my [long] weekend in photos

friday night we headed down to grammy’s house after work.
we pulled into town right as the sun was setting over the water,
what a great way to start the long weekend.

having a snack outside in our swim suits.
still envious this suit doesn’t come in my size. i can’t get enough of it.

after our snack it was time to take the boat out.

heading out into the blue water. amazing.

after nap time, we headed down to the beach.
we have approximately 24 cloth diapers at home that double as swim diapers…
and we didn’t even pack one on the trip. #fail

regardless, we had fun playing in the ocean.

i enjoyed my zero proof cucumber ginger jasmine-tini at dinner saturday night.
it probably wasn’t as good as a real martini, but it was sure yummy.

sunday we headed to the rays / yankees game in probably the sickest seats we’ve ever sat in.

kenley loved that the seats were all-you-can-eat too. and she did!

i didn’t mind seeing evan longria that close.

sporting her new rays watch too.

after the game, we headed out on the boat one more time.

once we got back into town, we headed over to the jenkinson’s for a memorial day cookout.
the girls had fun being silly.

in true memorial day fashion, kenley loved the corn on the cob!

we had a great long weekend away and enjoyed our extra day off.
today we remember and thank those who have served our country so we could have such a great weekend.

my weekend in photos

greg met his bro up in the dc area this weekend to visit the fam.
the gilbertson men reunited.

saturday morning, kenley and i really tried hard to make it downtown in time for the march of dimes walk,
but since they decided to start early we just missed the start.
regardless, we represented jack’s pack while the fam was walking back in indiana.
we had our own little walk around lake eola and played at the park,
we weren’t going to let the beautiful morning go to waste.

first nap in the big girl bed looked like this.
she fell asleep as soon as she got back into bed, thankfully.

greg and the boys hit up the nationals / reds game at nationals park.

we hit up the splash pad for the first time this summer,
and kenley loved it. i foresee a lot of splash pad in our future.

having fun in the wa-wa

i saw on pinterest this week to put tea bags into your toms to make them less stinky.
the pin didn’t have a link attached to it, so i was skeptical, but let me tell you…
worked like a charm! i’ve worn a hole in my toms i’ve worn them so much and
they now don’t smell at all…other than a little like apple cinnamon tea.

we had a good weekend, but we are happy to have daddy home.
but, he had a wonderful time with the fam.

have no fear, we’re still here. we took a vacation day today to extend our weekend.

we had no ice at lunch on friday, but how could you be upset with a sign like this?

a couple rough days of teething & drooling meant lots of laundry by friday.
that’s a total of 14 outfits in six days.

greg went to a concert friday night, so i enjoyed some march madness & sewing.

saturday morning, i helped out sally {sally sarah designs} at a craft show.
how adorable is her table?

jessie + andrew got married!

we had a wonderful night away enjoying adult conversation & time together.

you can’t argue with drinking out of a mason jar.

the entire evening was absolutely beautiful and filled with love!
we had such a good time celebrating the happy couple
(who i failed to get a picture of because my phone died).

holly hoosier helped us cheer on the hoosiers to victory sunday!
not without a couple heart attacks in the process though.

we enjoyed our extra day off at the braves/mets spring training game at disney.

so long sweet summer

Since I live my life one semester at time, it is officially FALL in my book.
Bring on the sweaters, football, crunchy leaves, and pumpkin spice everything!
Ok, who am I kidding? It’s still ridiculously hot and we don’t have leaves, just palm fronds.
But, we do love us some pumpkin spice lattes, coffees, and coffee creamers.
If it were up to Greg, he would indulge in pumpkin flavor year round
but I think that defeats the purpose and it would totally kill the excitement.
I digress.
Anywho, I want to give summer one last shout out before we move on to bigger and better things.
I’m pretty sure fall would be my favorite season, if we had seasons in Florida.
I love football season, those perfectly crisp mornings that aren’t too cold but aren’t too hot,
October in general (birthday(s) month, breast cancer awareness, Halloween),
and knowing that the holiday season is right around the corner just leaves me feeling giddy.

Again, back to summer. We had a great one. I have no idea where it went, but it was fun.
Everything I was excited about in this post lived up to its expectations.

We had a great vacation up in Indiana over the 4th of July,
it was great to see family and friends, yet relax at the same time.

It’s hard to imagine how different our family vacation will look next July.

I mentioned that I wanted to try some make-up and beauty products, tips, and tricks.
A huge thanks to Rachel for keeping me up to date on what’s out there
because Lord knows I need help in that department.
Some of my new favorites include the Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes,
MAC Naked Lunch eye shadow, and Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain.

We also got our baseball fix in this summer. Greg hit up a Phillies/Rays game in Philly,
in addition to our trip to St. Pete for a Rays/Red Sox game. Yes, he saw the Rays in two different cities.
Our St. Pete trip could not have worked out any better than it did meeting up with the Campbell/Pena clan
as it was the front end of their family vacay. We had a great time and we got to see some live baseball,
which is a must in our household every summer.

We normally do a lot of year ’round grilling in these parts, but it’s usually the same things week in and week out.
Throughout the summer, we did try a new recipe here and there, but nothing spectacular.
I do a great job of pinning recipes on Pinterest, it’s just the making them part that doesn’t get done.
We’ll chalk that up to a work in progress.

Overall, we had a great summer, but we are definitely looking forward to the fall season.
We have a lot of fun things planned between now and the end of the year,
which brings me to the last thing that we’ve been up to… First birthday party planning.
I mentioned I wanted to get a head start, and I definitely have. I realize that we are still two months out,
but like I said, October is my favorite month and it’s also the busiest. Each year it’s insane.
Therefore, to avoid me running around like a crazy person (even more than I do now), I need to do things in advance.
I am a major planner… I know, I know, shocking, right? and that’s what we’ve been doing,
along with sewing, crafting, hunting (for bargains) and gathering (party supplies).
It’s gonna be fun people. Real fun.

41 weeks :: photo overload

Can we just stop a second? How is it August 1st?
Time flies when you’re having fun, I guess.

In honor of the new month, I’m going to overload you with some photos from July that never made it to the blog.
I was looking back on Kenley’s younger ~~years~~ months and was shocked how many pictures I have of her on my phone,
You’d think I was obsessed with taking photos of her. Oh wait, I am.
I was especially surprised by how many I have of her as a wee little newborn that I never posted!
So sorry for that.

Enjoying a snack outside in her swim suit on a hot summer day. Doesn’t get much better.

One big difference between Indiana and Florida is the grass. Florida grass is hard and crunchy and not fun.
Kenley has really ever been in the grass so she was not sure what to think.
It didn’t help that Indiana is going through the worst drought in history, so that grass wasn’t too fun either.

She definitely has a love/hate relationship with animals. She’s definitely not sure at first…

but does warm up to them later. Holden’s baby kitten was the perfect size for her!

Heaven on earth right here. This girl loves her cords.
I had written my computer off at this point, so I let her get a few good whacks in.
Still works, no worries.

This was the only way I could get her to pose with her “First Rays Game” button.

This is probably one of my favorite pictures. She had so much fun figuring out how to open the drawer,
then proceed to take every single shirt out of it. This ranks up there with opening and closing cabinets.
Not even sure why she needs toys.

my arm was feeling it the rest of the day. it’s amazing how quickly you forget how life was with a six week old.

sweet summertime

It’s officially summer break here and while our day-to-day schedule doesn’t change much,
there is nothing quite like the sweetness of summertime.

While we have some fun things planned for the summer, I want to make somewhat of a to-do list,
because you and I both know that summer is going to be over before we know it!

After reading Rachel’s make-up must haves for summer (here and here),
I’m going to make a point to try some new, fun, light, and refreshing summertime make-up!

We want to brave the heat this summer and continue our walking & running regiment.
It’s definitely going to be hard, especially since it’s already hotter than Hades here,
but it’s really important to us to be active and get outside.

Batter Up

One of the many perks of living in Florida is spring training baseball!
With Greg being a huge baseball fan, we usually try to hit up at least one game each year.
The Grapefruit League has teams all over the state of Florida and several in central Florida.
The Atlanta Braves spring training facility is right down the road at the ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Saturday was Kenley’s first baseball game!
We were lucky enough to come across tickets to the Braves v. Yankees full squad game at Disney.
We were able to see a lot of big name players and the day was absolutely perfect.
It was overcast most of the day plus our seats were in the shade right behind home plate, a rare commodity.

Of course we had to wear our Mets gear to show those Yankees and Braves fans
that we weren’t rooting for either of their teams.
But I’m sure they all fell sorry for us since we are, in fact, Mets fans.

NFL star and former Hoosier, the “law firm”, BenJarvus Green-Ellis threw out the first pitch with Mickey Mouse!

Kenley was great! She rode around in the Ergo almost the entire time
and even had a little rest right when the game started.

A-Rod!

Overall, it was a very successful trip and first baseball game experience!
We even captured the little one laughing!
It cracks me up that my obnoxious noises were so funny to her.
