we had a great week and weekend spending time with friends and family.
it’s back to the real world tomorrow!
how was your weekend?
If you’re new to these parts, every Friday, Misha and I share some of the things we are loving.
You can catch up on previous weeks here.
We’d love to hear what you’re loving, so join in on the fun!

If you’re a female, you know how hard it is to find good shorts. After having a conversation on Twitter about this, I figured I would share my favorite shorts right now. I spent a Christmas gift card a couple weeks ago and got a pair of shorts. I went back last weekend to cash in some bonus bucks and got two more pair! The Riviera Shorts with 4 Inch Inseam from Loft are wonderful! Not too long, not too short, and not too mom-ish. I highly recommend them if you’re in the market (and wait for them to go on sale!).

We finally watched Frozen this week! It was awesome. I completely forgot how much singing and music there is in Disney movies (vs. Pixar movies of which we watch a lot). I know Frozen and an eternal winter is really quite the opposite of spring break, but since it wasn’t a school night, we stayed up late to have a movie night and had popcorn after dinner. You know, fun things during a fun week at home.

A Garnet Hill Kids catalog showed up in my mail this week. I have never purchased anything from here, but after looking at their catalog, it’s definitely peaked my interest. So many fun, spring colors and patterns! However, it looks like they only sell girls’ clothes?

Hope you had a great spring break! Happy weekend!
Our sweet little nugget is five months old!
I am happy to say that we’ve made strides in the sleep department in the last month and it seems we have passed the four month sleep regression. Bedtime is 7:15-7:30pm and he will sleep until about 5:30-6:30am. Sometimes he’ll eat as early as 5:30am, others he will wait until closer to 6:30am. This week (since he’s been on spring break), he’s gone back down after his morning feeding and has slept past 7:30am! We occasionally will get up to put the pacifier back in, but that has slowed down considerably the past few weeks (excuse me while I go knock on wood).
We have been using the HALO SleepSack Swaddle with his arms out (no more swaddle!) and he’s been sleeping well. It was getting small, so I opted to get a regular sleepsack because I am convinced he likes the weight of it on him. Really, I have no idea, I just didn’t want to try to let him sleep without it. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it, right? I ended up finding a Just Born Sleep Sack
on clearance, so I couldn’t pass it up. So far, so good.
We are also seeing a little bit of a nap schedule and at home and we have figured out when to put him down so he doesn’t get overtired. We are still amazed that he can and will go to sleep on his own, which is something that his sister struggled with.
Crosby has also started rolling from his back to his belly! This is a new development this week and you would have thought that we had hit the lottery. We were all so excited. He probably could still be getting some more floor time (versus sitting in the rock n’ play or the high chair) but it’s a little bit harder to do this time around knowing that we have a wild two year old on the loose. He really likes his play mat and bats and grabs at his toys. He is not really showing any signs of sitting up yet, but that will come. I keep reminding myself that he’s going to be on a different schedule than his sister.
His room has still been a work in progress. We’ve slowly been adding things to make it his own, so I’m hoping I’ll be sharing it soon. At this rate, maybe by his first birthday?
Five month notes:
Weight – Just under 16 pounds by our bathroom scale.
Hair – Lightening up, filling in slowly and a bald spot in the back.
Eyes – Dark blue slash grey
Diapers – Cloth diapers by day and disposables by night, size 2.
Clothes – 3-6 months and some 6-9/6-12 months in pajamas solely because I can’t keep up with the laundry
Likes – NUK pacifier, putting his hands in his mouth, the play mat, playing with his feet, being held, grunting
Dislikes – Being overtired, green beans, the high chair, tummy aches
Happy five months little nugget.
This was another big week for little man.
He tried his first vegetable – organic green beans!
At first, he was not a fan and it didn’t last long, but he’s had it a few times and each time is better than the last.
I’ve mixed it with a little bit of oatmeal or brown rice cereal and some breast milk and he doesn’t seem to mind it as much. Doesn’t that sound yummy? Ha.
We are moving slowly with the solids, but I’m not worried about it since we started so early.
He has one “solids” meal a day, during the week it’s at lunch time at school and on the weekends it is whenever we have time, either lunch or dinner.
I anticipate we will try sweet potatoes next, hopefully sometime this week.
He is so happy after his naps. Look at that sweet face!
i got a surprise early mother’s day gift this weekend. so excited to organize my life to the extreme.
kenley also got a surprise in the mail on friday. she was obsessed.
// toddler skirt // leggings // flip flops //
saturday morning muffin making.
having so much fun at swim lessons!
// bib //
crosby had a good time watching kenley swim.
grammy came to visit this weekend!
we had a good time at the mets/braves spring training game today.
it was really hot and we only lasted three innings, but we had fun while we were there.
and it was crosby’s first baseball game!

As soon as I saw this book was coming out, I knew we had to have it.
No, really. I pre-ordered it.
It is awesome.
Greg and I crack up every time we read it, so naturally Kenley thinks it’s hilarious too.
It’s the little things, ya know?

Two words: March Madness
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. I’m talking, right up there with Christmas.
What’s better than continuous basketball for four straight days and rooting for Cinderella teams?
Never mind the fact that my bracket was busted the first game of the day yesterday.
You win some and you lose some, I guess.
I’ll be cheering for most of the underdogs from here on out, as well as the remaining teams in the Big Ten.

Let me tell you how much of a hot mess I am.
I got up from lunch on campus this week and LEFT MY PURSE hanging on the back of the chair.
And by purse, I mean my entire life in one bag.
Miraculously, I got a call from another office saying a student turned it in there.
Thank you Jesus. What an amazing person.
Unfortunately, they didn’t leave their name, so there was no way for me to repay them,
but I fully intend on paying it forward.
That student restored my faith in humanity this week. Whoever you are, thank you.

What are you loving this week?
Happy weekend and happy spring break!
This month flew by and I feel like I don’t have much to report on Miss K,
so here are 29 fun (and not so fun) things happening at this age.
1. Kenley got her first real haircut! She was a rock star and did amazing.
2. She loves playing with doors, which results in fingers getting pinched and lots of tears.
3. Favorite movies are “new monsters” and “old monsters”,
which means Monsters University and Monsters, Inc.
4. Favorite TV show is still Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. All the time.
She will frequently start talking about an episode like it’s real life.
“Remember Toodle’s birthday?”
5. When we take walks, she says “no stroller tonight, I wanna walk.”
And she does, as far as we’ll let her.
6. She’s making her way into size 3T clothes and size 7 shoes.
7. Swimming lessons started up this week again.
8. She still loves her veggies (and I hope this continues).
9. Since daylight savings time, she’s been sleeping in until about 6:30am!
10. She’s starting to negotiate with “five more minutes” and “one more minute”.
11. She loves singing.
12. Baby talk has started up, along with made up words.
We (and her teachers) remind her to use her “big girl words”.
13. Likewise, we have to ask her to use her “big girl voice” when she’s whining.
Some days all….day…..long…..
14. Her favorite lyrics are “you can be who you wanna be” (as seen here).
15. She also recites the tag line for Disney Junior (where the magic begins).
16. Bedtime is around 7:45pm and she is still loving the sun and moon light.
17. We frequently here “I wanna do it”.
18. Her memory still astounds me.
19. She loves her brother and will say “Crosby you’re so cute.”
19. Potty training is still going very well. I also shared what we learned from our experience here.
20. She loves to read books herself at night. One favorite is the Potty book.
21. Favorite toys include anything she can push: the baby stroller, IKEA wagon, or shopping cart.
22. She recites “Five little monkeys sitting in a tree” all the way through,
and it’s pretty much the cutest thing ever.
23. Favorite snacks include raisins, pouches, applesauce, smoothies (smoobies) and fruit.
24. Loves stickers!
25. A “special treat” is one M&M for pee pee in the potty.
She thought it was the coolest thing ever when I got the Easter colored M&M’s since they were “new colors.”
26. She likes to “hit the button” to end FaceTime calls. It’s her thing.
27. She hates wearing jeans. If I pull them out, she says “no jeans.”
28. She’s a talker!
29. This age is a roller coaster of emotions, but it’s a fun ride most of the time!
For not having much to say, this became quite the post. If you made it to the end, give yourself a pat on the back.

Little man is smiling like crazy and daddy got him laughing this weekend.
Of course, mommy wasn’t around to see it… why does it always happen that way?
He’s also learning new tricks!
Seriously, twenty weeks already?
