Ten Months

We’ve reached double digits… 10 months!

IMG_1065

Crosby started in a new class this month and it’s going very well. We love his teachers and his little classmates. Unfortunately, he’s been out the last couple of days with a viral infection, on top of teething. The poor guy can’t catch a break. Hopefully the worst is behind us and he’ll be back to normal soon. He has been so “go with the flow” so it’s really heartbreaking to see him in pain and being so whiny. As a result, we’ve had a couple sleepless nights and hours spent sleeping in the gilder with him. I have a feeling we’ll have to sleep train him again next week once he’s all better.

On a more exciting note, the boy loves to stand. We (and his teachers) think that he’s going to take his first step “any day now”. He dances, bounces, and does squats while he’s standing, he just hasn’t taken that first step forward. In time! He’s not saying very many words now except for “da-da-da” and sometimes “uh-oh” if prompted, but his new thing is waving! I may be biased, but it’s the cutest thing ever.

Ten month notes:

Weight – 21 pounds 2 ounces
Hair – I think he may need a little trim soon.
Teeth – Four
Eyes – Brown
Clothes –  Mostly 12-18 months and some 6-12 month.
Diapers – Cloth by day and disposables at night, size 3.
Likes – Chewing on anything, Mum-Mums, Goldfish, chugging from his sippy cup, dancing, all kinds of fruit, being outside, his big sister
Dislikes – Diaper changes, the high chair, clothes changes, getting teeth

Happy ten months little man!

34 Months

This is Miss K’s last monthly update before the big 3!
She had her first day of the older toddler class yesterday and had a great day.

It’s crazy how much she has changed since the first day of school last year.

IMG_10101

Since we always ask Kenley what she did at school that day,
she now asks us “mommy, what you do at work today?”.
Also, her answer to our question is now “nothing”. It’s like we have a teenager on our hands. As a result she has to say three things that she did that day or that happened at school. Most of the time she just gives us the names of her friends.

She has seen me do yoga a few times so her favorite thing to do is downward dog.
She sometimes call is “yogabba gabba” which is hilarious.

She frequently asks us (and her teachers) “can you say it louder, I can’t hear you.” sometimes when the conversation doesn’t even involve her.
She has to be in the know at all times.

We are still battling her trips into our bedroom in the middle of the night and it really depends on the night.
Sometimes there are no surprise visits, other nights there are several. You would think I would be more scared waking up to her staring at my face.

On the weekends we ask her what she wants to do today and her answer is always “go outside”.
We have tried to be creative with it since it’s been 100* these last couple months.

She can identify every letter of the alphabet and usually can give a word or two that starts with that letter.
We have been playing a game where we name someone for every letter of the alphabet, which is hard on mommy and daddy sometimes.
When she sees a letter, she usually says the person or asks “who start with L?”

The girl loves to talk and the things she comes up with are hilarious.
I cannot believe she’s going to be three years old in just two months!

this nice girl handed this to me on friday.
i appreciate the fact that she *may* have thought i looked like a college student,

so i didn’t have the heart to tell her that this event was way past my bedtime.

friday night we went to ‘fan fest’ at the stadium to kick off the football season.

image

we ended up seeing several friends while we were there!

i swear i ask this every week, but when did she get so old?

image

we were out of coffee creamer on saturday morning
and that was just the excuse we needed to go out to breakfast.

after panera, we did our weekly target run. luckily we beat the ‘move in weekend’ crowd.

we had some friends over for dinner, drinks, and dessert on saturday.

which was followed up with an amazing sunset.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have heard some chatter about the Love for Reagan auction. Reagan suffered a metabolic crisis on April 8, 2014 which resulted in brain damage. Forty-One Weeks

This little guy has had a rough week. All week long I have thought that his top two teeth would be in “any day now”. Finally, just yesterday one of them poked through (barely). Overall, he’s been such a trooper, but you can still tell he’s in pain. He’s been sleeping really well, but again, it’s because he’s not feeling great. Hopefully the top teeth will move in quickly. I now remember with Kenley the top teeth being a lot worse than the bottom, and it’s no different with Crosby.

Over the past week, he’s turned into a standing machine! He let’s go of whatever he’s holding almost every time he’s on his feet and will stand for a long time. He’s not cruising much and he’s not close to taking steps, but he sure does love to just stand there.

Slow Cooker Meals

I taught a class for six weeks this summer which meant I was putting in almost 11 hour days at work four days a week. Meanwhile, Greg was playing super daddy at home and holding down the fort. The last thing I wanted him to worry about was making dinner each night before I got home. To alleviate that, I made a slow cooker meal for almost every night I was teaching. I prepared the meal the night before and Greg turned it on before he left the house for the day. We have the Cuisinart Programmable Slow Cooker which goes to warm after the cook time is complete, so we didn’t have to worry about it being on all day. We still play around with the cook times on recipes because I think it still continues to cook a little bit even on warm.

crock pot slow cooker meals

Here is the list of recipes & my thoughts on each.

Campbell’s Slow Cooker Sauces – Moroccan Spiced Stew with Green Olives and Lemon
This is my least favorite of the sauces. It was pretty spicy.

Apple Cinnamon Slow Cooker Porkloin
I make this often. Apple, cinnamon and honey rank high in my book.

Pineapple chicken
This is hit or miss. My chicken in the slow cooker tends to be dry.

Potato Bacon Soup
We don’t normally eat a lot of soups, but this one was good.

Babyback Ribs
This is one of the favorites in our house. We get the Hormel ribs from Target and add the rub.
They are so so good!

Creamy Crock Pot Spaghetti
This has potential, but it didn’t cook all the way through since I couldn’t stir it after three hours. I wouldn’t recommend making it if you’re going to be gone all day.

Campbell’s Slow Cooker Sauces – Apple Bourbon BBQ with Sweet Peppers and Brown Sugar
We did this one with chicken over rice and it was great.

Crock Pot Chicken Fajitas
These were great, but there was a lot of liquid in there after cooking. I will definitely cut down on the water next time.

Campbell’s Slow Cooker Sauces – Sweet Korean BBQ with Roasted Ginger and Sesame
These sauces are as easy as you can get and this flavor was good.

Swiss Chicken
I will definitely be making this again.

Chicken and Rice with Black Beans
I’ll be making this again as well.

Lasagna
The best thing about the lasagna is that you can put the noodles in uncooked. We make this often.

Crock Pot Chili
This was good, but a tad spicy. I’m determined to find a go-to chili recipe!

Pizza Casserole
Good, but very rich. I probably won’t make this one again.

Hawaiian BBQ Chicken
This is great for sandwiches!

Campbell’s Slow Cooker Sauces – Tavern Style Pot Roast with Mushrooms and Roasted Garlic
This one is my favorite of the Campbell’s sauces. It’s so good!

Root Beer Pulled Pork
This was my first time using liquid smoke (I have never even heard of such a thing) and it was really good.

All of these recipes and a few others are on my slow cooker Pinterest board. I am always looking for new recipes and I feel like I keep seeing the same ones on Pinterest. If you have one that you love, please share! My hope is to use our slow cooker a couple times a week once school starts again this month.
