32 Months

Crosby is 32 months today and quickly becoming a little boy well on his way to three years old. Where did my baby go? In the last couple of months he has changed so much.

For starters, he is completely potty trained. I mentioned in his last update that we had just started the three day potty training method with him and he was doing well. To be honest, he completely surprised us! “They” say boys are harder to potty train than girls but that is completely untrue. I don’t know the reason but I honestly think he did better than Kenley did. He was back at school on day 4 of potty training and hasn’t worn a diaper or a pull-up since we began the process, both day and night. That’s not to say he didn’t have some accidents both at school and during the night, but we rarely worry about him now. He does a great job of telling us when he needs to go. We (mostly Greg) will take him potty in the middle of the night and he will go most nights without a fuss. We are so proud of him! His teacher also commented on what a big boy he has become since he has been using the potty. It’s like he flipped a switched and has lost all of the toddler in him. His communication has really improved too. Aside from his occasional overly excited stutter, he is speaking more and more clearly, as well as holding actual conversations. A lot of our deep conversations come while he is going poopy before bed. He says the funniest things!

Untitled

Earlier this month, school ended and he transitioned out of his toddler classroom and into his summer camp room. He’s had two weeks of summer camp and they have been great weeks. It’s always hard to gauge how the transition will go but he’s done very well, especially considering that a couple of his friends were moved up to preschool, so he has a lot of new faces in his current classroom.

Untitled

He has very specific interests right now. He loves sharks and he LOVES A Hole in the Bottom of the Sea. He was introduced to the video at school and asks to watch it every single day when he arrives to school. He loves singing the song and he loves the shark in it. He will carry around his stuffed shark that he sleeps with and make it “swim” through the air while he sings.  He also loves his Nemo fish and will typically sleep with him too.

Crosby now sleeps in a twin bed and we are officially done with our toddler bed. His new bed is shaped like a boat and we’ve had it since he was a baby, so Greg and I were equally as excited to move him into it. We rearranged his room since the bed is so much bigger and it looks so great. I will post updated pictures of his room soon. He does a good job sleeping, but it takes him a while to wind down at the end of the day. There have been a couple nights over the past few weeks where he has gone to sleep later than Kenley. Thankfully, he will sleep until 7am or after if he stays up later than normal, whereas Kenley gets up at 6:30am no matter what time she goes to sleep. I have a feeling he will be done napping when Kenley is done napping, which I hope is not for another year!

32 months notes:
Weight – 32-33 pounds, if I had to guess
Hair – Light brown with a fresh new cut this week
Teeth – I think all of his molars are in for a full set of 20
Eyes – Brown
Clothes – Mostly 2T clothes, some 3T pajamas, and size 8 or 9 shoes
Diapers – No more diapers! Size 2T/3T undies!
Likes – The usual suspects: cars, trains, planes, garbage trucks, construction vehicles; jumping on the trampoline, as well as the couch; swimming; Finding Dory; PJ Masks; playing, as well as arguing, with Kenley; playing the Lego Juniors app; singing Baby Shark and Old MacDonald; reading, especially Little Blue Truck Leads The Way; playing with Legos, cars, and trains; making mommy, daddy, and Kenley laugh
Dislikes – Seeing mommy and daddy upset with him or sad, staying in his bed & hot stoves.

Friday I’m in Love

Happy Friday! It’s hard to believe this is the last Friday in June. How is that possible? Anyway, let’s get to it…

o n e

On Sunday night, over 50,000 people stood together around Lake Eola to remember and honor the victims of the tragedy. We weren’t able to go, but we watched the recap on the news following the NBA Finals Game 7 (which was insane, by the way!). The vigil was the best way to close a horrific week in our city. Monday was a new day and a new week and we welcomed it with open arms. On Wednesday, Keep Dancing Orlando was born and it brought a smile and a few tears to my face. Watch, smile, and keep dancing Orlando.

Can I share with you what has been our saving grace lately? This

The favorite thing to do in our house right now is jump on the couch, which results in us telling asking the kids to stop jumping on the couch no less than ten times a day. Now, we just tell them to jump on the trampoline instead and has made everyone so happy!

Friday I’m in Love {with Orlando}

It’s finally Friday after what feels like the longest week ever. It was hard for me to even sit down and write this blog post because there really isn’t much to love this week. Instead, I’ve compiled a list of newsworthy articles, stories, and examples of what an amazing community we have here in Orlando. I am certain you’ve seen these stories this week, but if you haven’t, take a look.

UCF held a beautiful candlelight vigil on Tuesday night to remember the victims, specifically the two that were part of the UCF community. Millican Hall as lit up in rainbow colors following the vigil. I am so proud to be a part of such an amazing university. The outpouring of love and support of for our students, staff, and city has been incredible. The other college and universities have also done the same — Orlando’s Colleges Offer Solace in the Wake of Tragedy

Millican Hall shows it Pride

Earlier in the week, I shared at Orlando Moms Blog how we can help by purchasing beautiful art prints by local artists.

The running community is a strong one, both here in Central Florida and across the nation.

Orlando Track Shack has already sold out of their first batch of the #OrlandoStrong shirts and have already ordered more.

Next Saturday, June 25th there will be an #OrlandoUnited 5K fundraiser in Lake Mary. We will be running the virtual race as a family.

OrlandoUnited_5K small

Moms RUN This Town/She Runs This Town has a fundraiser in the works to raise money for the One Orlando Fund. I LOVE the photo she posted on Instagram too.

4Rivers will open its doors for the first time on Sunday and all proceeds will go to the OneOrlando Fund.

Greg will get to work the K92.3’s Country Strong benefit concert on Tuesday, which has a pretty strong line up.

All of our professional sports teams have come together to sell #OrlandoUnited shirts. They are in high demand!

Finally, the best article I have read all week is this one — Maxwell: With the world’s eyes on Orlando, let me tell you who we really are

On behalf of our city, thank you for the love and support this week.

saturday night, i celebrated kayla’s birthday with dinner and drinks! it was nice to get out for some girl time.

Untitled

today was a bit of a blur. crosby woke up early and greg told me about a shooting at pulse. as the day went on and more details came out, it was hard for me to process it all. i felt helpless. heather and i got in a little bit of girl time and retail therapy, then we tried to donate blood. the line was super long, so we opted for buying cases of bottled water to donate to the big red bus. we’ve been glued to cnn all night still trying to come to terms with the fact that this terrorist attack happened right here in our own city. please continue to pray for orlando.

Season three of The Cramazingly Incredifun Sugarcrash Kids podcast began this week and the kids loved it! If you haven’t started listening yet, do it!

It was hard to be on the internet and social media this week without becoming just furious with what is happening in our nation and on our college campuses, BUT I did come across an amazing article about a Colorado Spring high school English teacher.

Summer is officially here! The kids had their last day of school on Wednesday and we capped off the year with our annual last day of school picture in front of the front door. I love looking at everyones’ first and last day of school pictures each year and my feed has been filled with them over the past couple of weeks. Though, I am still amazed with the difference one school year makes. Kenley grew SO much this year and Crosby became a little boy.

Don’t forget to head over to see what everyone else is loving this week and this month and add your own loves to the link-up below!

Have a good weekend!

Pool Installation – 2015

It’s been one year since we filled up the pool and I have yet to post any pictures of the process. It was leading up to Memorial Day last year that we were so hopeful to have our inaugural swim over the long weekend, but it wasn’t quite ready for us at that point. The following week, we filled up the pool and have been enjoying it ever since.

In February 2015, we had our landscaper come out to clear away the existing trees, bushes, and pavers that were there when we purchased the house. He was going to reuse them on other projects which was better than having someone else simply demolish the backyard and not save anything.

Untitled

Untitled

The work on the pool officially began in March. The initial progress at first was very deceiving. A lot of different things happened in the first few weeks that led us to believe that the pool was going to be done in a month…which we knew wasn’t true, but it was exciting to see so much progress so quickly. By mid April, progress had slowed down immensely. There were many moving parts and many different entities that had to come out for their respective jobs, such as plumbing, tiling, paving, etc. Towards the end, we would see progress for a few straight days, then nothing would happen for a few more days. Once we got into May, the entire backyard was starting to take shape and we were just excited to be able to envision the end product.

Untitled

While we’ve been enjoying the pool, we’ve also been making our outdoor space a little bit more cozy. We spend a lot of time out there, so want to keep it nice and functional.

Untitled

Throughout the process, Greg took a picture every time there was progress made on the pool, which you can see in the video clip or you can view the entire album. We also have another miscellaneous album of more detailed pictures of the progress.

We’re ready to jump in to another fun summer!

Happy Friday and happy June!

o n e

I had heard about Cosmic Kids Yoga through someone on Instagram recently but I hadn’t given it a try. On Wednesday, Kenley and I were playing in her room and I decided it would be a good time for a quiet activity before bed. We ended up doing two of the sessions and it was so fun! The first was very relaxing and the second had a little bit more movement and jumping around, so we should have done that one first, but they were both great. She liked them and they kept her interest. I actually felt like I got a good stretch out of it, too. We also did another session last night and Crosby joined in on a few of the moves. This week especially, I needed a couple good yoga workouts, but seriously, toddlers doing yoga is the cutest thing ever.

Do you know what I needed this week? This post. This post that my sweet friend sent me just at the right time this week. She said it spoke to her and that she thought of me while reading it. Thank God that she did because I needed to read it too, again and again.

Today happens to be the kids’ favorite day of the whole school year: WATER DAY! You would not believe how excited they have been all week for this day. On top of water day, Kenley also is pumped for pizza and cupcakes for lunch. As you can guess, we’re nearing the end of the school year and summer is quickly approaching.
