Thanks to Aileen over at Small Steps of Change, I found an awesome link up with Jonesin For A Run for Global Running Day! Here is a look into my miles!
Why do you run?
I run for a lot of reasons. I run to stay in shape. I run because it is a stress reliever for me. I run to get in my steps for the day. I run to get that next PR. I run for the me time and the girl time. I run to show my kids that leading a healthy and active lifestyle is fun and rewarding.
How do you plan to celebrate National Running Day?
I plan to take the kids out for a run tonight after work! We may only get a mile or two, but we’ll be running, which is all that matters.
How many miles have you run so far this year?
Do you have a mileage goal for the year?
Through May 31st I have ran 184.73 miles in 2016. I do not have a mileage goal for the year, but I expect my miles to increase for the rest of the year once training season begins again.
What big events do you have on the race calendar for the rest of the year?
I have several races on the calendar and I plan to add a few more:
Outrunning Autism 10K – July 3rd in Noblesville, IN
U Can Finish 5 Miler & 2 Mile – October 16th at UCF
Lighthouse Loop Half Marathon – October 30th in Port Orange, FL
Space Coast Half Marathon – November 27th in Cocoa, FL
Before I leave for a run, I must have:
My Garmin Forerunner 220! I cannot run without it.
Do you track your runs? If so, what do you use?
See previous question. I can’t leave the house without my running watch. My watch syncs with the Garmin Connect app on my phone so I keep all of my runs in one place. I also log all of my non-running workouts in Garmin Connect as well so I can see what I’ve done on any given day or week.
Who is your favorite running partner?
My favorite running partner(s) are Greg and the kids! We got in two family runs this weekend and it was awesome. I also love running with Heather, Kayla, and all of the MRTT moms!
What races have you run so far this year?
Lady Track Shack 5K
Celebration Half Marathon
Best Damn Race 10K
Sarasota First Watch Half Marathon
If you have to give someone one piece of advice about running, what would it be?
Make the decision to start! Whether it’s walking or running, fast or slow, as long as you get started, you’re moving in the right direction. I was never a “runner”, but now I have run ten half marathons and I don’t plan on stopping. Never say never.
Describe your relationship with running in one word.
Necessary.
Happy Global and National Running Day!
