Friday I’m in Love {July}

I realize that it’s not Friday but that’s how the last week has gone for us. I still wanted to share my Friday loves for this month, so here we are!

1 (2)

{1} I love the 4th of July for many reasons. We hosted a 4th of July pool party this year, so we all were decked out in cute 4th of July apparel. It probably doesn’t surprise you that most of it came from Target! Cat & Jack is one of my favorite brands for the kids, including their swimsuits. Crosby wore lobster swim trunks and Kenley had the Lucky Charms one piece suit. Kenley also wore the Americana stars and stripes tank. I’ve since picked up the Rose in the USA shirt on clearance for next year.

{2} We got a couple Big Joe floats last year (the watermelon and the lime) from Sam’s Club and they are my absolute favorite! The bean bag style floats are definitely the way to go since they are durable and don’t pop. We found a couple Big Joe Petz floats for the kids at Aldi last week for an amazing price! We have loved having them in the pool this summer.

{3} I have had a Road ID bracelet for a while that I wear when I run, but I got each of the kids one last year after a recommendation from a friend. We’ve used them so much this summer between trips to the theme parks and Kenley going on field trips for camp. It’s becoming second nature for the kids to wear them when we’re going to be out and about. One of nice things about the kids bracelet is that it comes with three different sized bands so it’ll grow with them!

{4} Old Navy has been having some amazing sales over the last couple of weeks. As I have been slowly back to school shopping for the kids, I have picked up a couple things for myself that I could not pass up. My favorite so far is the slub-knit tee dress. I ordered the black and gray and I have worn them both so much in just a couple of weeks. They are super comfy and can be dressed up or down. I scored them for $10 each, which you cannot beat!

{5} I am sure you have noticed that hats are a staple in my wardrobe this summer all the time. Maggi and Rachel both mentioned these hats that with airport codes on them and I immediately loved them! I started with the Aviate MCO hat since I need to represent Orlando, but there are several cities and colors on my wish list! They are so cute.

Friday I’m in Love {June}

Happy Friday!

{1} I’m not sure I have ever actually binge watched a show, especially when I was taking classes. However, now that I have all the time in the world (so to speak), we’ve been actually binge watching TV. We’ve almost watched two whole seasons of The Good Place in the last couple of weeks. It’s really funny and the short episodes definitely make it binge-able.

{2} We’ve been spending a lot of time outside and in the pool this month. The kids have had a SwimZip rash guard for a couple summers now, but we seriously love them. The zipper makes it super easy to get on and off without having to pull them over their heads, and it’s a whole area of the body that doesn’t need sunscreen! These have also been great for water day each week at camp.

{3} I got my Corkcicle stemless wine glass for Christmas and I’ve acquired another one since then, but it has been perfect for summer drinking by the pool. There is also a lid that comes with it. I highly recommend!

{4} I started Beachbody’s 80 Day Obsession a couple weeks ago. I’m really loving it so far. I am not usually one to be able to workout at home or at night, but I’ve been doing both! I’m only on day 11, so I’ll keep you posted as I make my way to day 80.

{5} A friend recommended the Chore Pad app which we implemented at the beginning of the summer and it’s been going really well! It’s super easy to use and the kids have responded really well to it. We don’t always follow through with these type of things, but we’re still going strong which is also a win for the parents.

Friday I’m in Love {May}

It’s been a while (an entire year, actually!) since I’ve shared my Friday loves, so I am back! Misha and I will be turning this into a monthly gig, but I definitely wanted to bring it back because it’s some of my favorite posts to write. I also love hearing what you guys are loving, so please share!

1

{1} Summer is here and I was ahead of the game in the swim suit department this year. I was impressed with the Athleta catalog that I received in the mail, particularly the shape, body type, lack of airbrushing on the models, and of course the cute suits, so I thought I would check them out. I found the Offshore Reversible Bikini and Tankini and fell in love. I tend to go with more sporty suits and this one fit the bill. I ordered all three pieces online and they fit perfectly! I will definitely keep an eye out for more sales this summer.

{2} I’ve been taking graduate courses for a while now and I am currently on hiatus (hence the impending blog revival), so I actually have time to read for fun! I got the Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas and I’m so excited to get some good use out of it this summer. I recently joined Goodreads to keep track of books I want to read, so please feel free to send me suggestions! Related, we all just got library cards at our local library. The kids were so excited to check books out for the first time. I am planning many trips to the library this summer!

{3} We just finished the season finale of Timeless this week. This show is so good! I will be devastated if it doesn’t get renewed for next season. We’re also getting back into The Crown on Netflix after a hiatus, especially after the royal wedding this past weekend. Give me all things royal family right now.

{4} The kids have been wearing Hanna Andersson pajamas for a while now and I may have already mentioned how much I love them. But, I am here to say how much we are still in love with them. The quality is unbeatable. It’s amazing how well they hold up after being worn and washed so many times. The regular price tag is high, but you can definitely find them on sale (like, right now!), which puts the price comparable to other brands. PS, here is a link for 20% off.

{5} The Letterfolk boards have been all the rage lately. I am currently eyeing the mini boards for my new office. I’ve been using ours for my favorite praise and worship lyrics, mostly because I’m not that creative with the sayings, but I love walking by it each day and reciting what it says. I also love following Letterfolk on Instagram and seeing all of the witty sayings that others come up with. People are so clever, I’m envious!

Happy Friday! What are you loving this month?

Friday I’m in Love

Happy Friday! I have been seriously slacking on my Friday loves, but I want to pop in one more time before the Friday posts go on hiatus for the summer.

The gap x wonder woman collection is amazing! I wanted everything, but settled on a t-shirt for Kenley and a running tank for me. Both are so cute!

The 2018 Simplified Planner covers have been revealed and I am in love. I am certainly not wishing away 2017, but I am already looking forward to my new planner for 2018. I am leaning towards the Fancy Floral, but I also love the classic Happy Stripe. What is your favorite? I am also so excited about the new updates to the weekly version.

The month of May has been a whirlwind of fun things happening now that school is winding down. The kids finished their soccer seasons, we went on their class field trips to SeaWorld, and Kenley has started gymnastics! She’s had two classes and loves it! She immediately requested a leotard too. These girls definitely look the part!

Now that I have researched this, I now know the coffee nut M&M’s have been around for almost a year, but I just found out about them. They are a-mazing! I am telling you to go buy some but also warning you that they are addictive! I’ve only bought one bag which are now gone, but I have wished I had them several times since.

Friday I’m in Love…on Saturday

Happy Friday and happy April! Apparently I haven’t shared my loves in about a month (and I can’t even get them posted on the right day), so we have a lot to catch up on, let’s get started.

o n e

In the world of sports, college basketball and March Madness has come to an end. I am sad to see basketball go, but I am excited about the new regime at IU. UCF ended their season in the final four of the NIT tournament, so that was exciting! Unfortunately, we didn’t make it to any games this year, that’ll be a goal for next year. Greg is thoroughly excited that baseball is back. He also opted to sit out of fantasy baseball this year, so watching games has been more laid back than it has been in years. Let’s go Mets!

This just in, parenting is hard. Here are a couple of good articles I’m loving lately: 9 Reasons Why I’m The Mean Mom, Not The Cool Mom and Dear Working Mom. Also related, I’ve been listening to the Simple Families podcast and Denaye has some really great episodes.

t h r e e

I don’t know why it took me so long to try coconut milk, but I’m obsessed. I’ve completely replaced my coffee creamer with it and I had it on my cereal this week. It’s delicious! My new drink at Starbucks is iced coffee with vanilla and coconut milk. I swear I’ve been talking about it all week. As far as dinners go, we’ve been having a lot of our usual favorites, but we are definitely adding these grilled shrimp tacos with avocado salsa in to the rotation. Yum!

f o u r

We were late to the game with watching Moana, but Greg randomly brought it home a few weekends ago so we finally watched it. It is SO good! I think Greg and I may have liked it even more than the kids. We’ve also been listening to the soundtrack nonstop on Spotify, which is just as amazing as the movie. If you haven’t seen or listened to it, I highly recommend it. We also saw the new live action Beauty and the Beast the day before we left on the cruise. It was also really good!

Happy Friday and happy March!

I am rarely on Facebook these days, but I happened to see a friend post about a food chopper that she just ordered. Considering all of the food prep we’ve been doing, I immediately ordered it. The Chef’n VeggiChop Hand-Powered Food Chopper is the jam! I first used it for bell peppers and wasn’t a huge fan because they turned out pretty watery. I used it next for onion and cilantro and it was amazing! I think I chopped the peppers too fine so I probably will try them again. Overall, I’m a fan. It’s so fast and easy!

t w o

Greg and I really love iced coffee (with vanilla and cream) and it’s our go-to drink at Starbucks. Greg did some research and found a copycat recipe from Starbucks themselves! He’s been grinding, pressing, and icing coffee each week for us and it’s so good!

t h r e e

Thank you Target for the best shirt of the year. Both of my kids got a new Strong Like Mom shirt to sport. Bravo, Target, bravo!

f o u r

The Hoosiers got a big win last night in the Big Ten tournament giving us a glimmer of hope for making the tournament. Either way, we’re ready for March Madness! Bring on the basketball!

Happy Friday! I’ve two weeks of love to catch up on as we round out the month of February, so let’s get started.

o n e

We had such a fun Valentine’s Day! I woke up to some beautiful flowers too. The kids passed out their valentines at school and came home with lots of goodies.

I’ve had some great girl time in the past two weeks. I went out for Galentine’s Day to Cooper’s Hawk with some running friends for a much needed wine night. This week, Mary Beth was in town so we spent the day strolling Park Ave. and catching up. It was perfect.

We are all caught up on This Is Us after watching three episodes this week. Can we talk about what an emotional roller coaster that show is!? If you haven’t caught up yet, grab the tissues and watch!

As I was scrolling through Instagram on Wednesday, I came across this photo from a photographer in Jacksonville and was in awe. Today, the beautiful photos were on Good Morning America and ABC News. What an unbelievable story and unbelievable photos of the gorgeous baby boy.

Friday I’m in Love

Happy Friday! It’s February and love is in the air. Let’s get to what I’m loving this week.

o n e

The kids had themed dress-up days at school this week for spirit week. We all loved it! I was always totally into spirit days growing up, but I have to say it’s just as fun dressing the kids up. This week they had team spirit day, tacky tourist day, Marvel vs. DC day, career day, and pajama day. In all of my years of spirit days, I had never done tacky tourist day and it was my favorite day this week. Greg made them both a sweet camera which they both carried with them all day. I posted the rest of their outfits on Instagram, so you can check them out.

Sunday was the Superbowl and while I have no interest in talking about the actual game, I will talk about the halftime show. Lady Gaga was on point. If you haven’t seen her performance, you can watch it all here. I am also stoked that she announced her tour dates the following day AND is performing along side Metallica on Sunday at the Grammy’s. That’s a match made in heaven if you ask me (and Greg).

t h r e e

Greg has really gotten into the show Hunted, therefore, I have also gotten into it. It’s really interesting and I find myself learning something new each episode.

f o u r

Podcast update: the kids have been loving this Disney Story Central podcast I found from Denaye at Simple Families. The episodes are short so they are perfect for the ride to school in the morning. I am really into podcasts right now, so share your favorites with me! I recently cancelled my Sirius/XM subscription in my car because between podcasts and Spotify, I didn’t feel like I was listening to it enough to justify the price.

Friday I’m in Love

Happy Friday! I apologize for missing last Friday, but now that the semester has started, my Friday loves may not happen each week. I’ll do my best! The good news about skipping a week is that there is more to love, so let’s get started!

o n e

The Gap x Disney collection was released right after Christmas and it is absolutely adorable. There are so many cute things for babies, toddlers, and kids. It seems there are some items that are already out of stock, but I am eyeing a couple of things for the kids.

I have shared a couple good books recently and I am always adding to my must-read list. Here are 7 books to help you feel fabulous right now.

t h r e e

We have been trying a lot of new, healthy recipes over the past couple of weeks. Michelle and I have been testing them out and swapping the good recipes that we find on Pinterest. This week we had BBQ Chicken Zucchini Boats which were a huge hit! We are really loving zucchini boats. They are a great alternative to carbs and surprisingly really filling. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a new recipe next week.

f o u r

I also am loving my Instant Pot. I have had it for almost a year now and I am finally feeling comfortable with it, even though I haven’t even scratched the surface of what it can do. I frequently use it for hard-boiled eggs, quinoa, brown rice, sweet potatoes, and chicken. It’s been clutch on our big meal prep days on the weekend. I am excited to expand my horizons and start using more of the settings. Ha!

Happy Friday and happy new year!

o n e

There is just something exciting about the first week of the year. We were back to work and back to school on Tuesday, so it was great to start the year with a four day week. I think we all were excited about a fresh start. We’ve been diligent about our work-out schedules this week, as well as keeping the house tidy after taking down all of the Christmas decorations. Here’s to making it a habit this year!

We have been really on top of our game this week with our breakfast, lunch, and dinners. I have been thinking about sharing our meal plan on a weekly basis, but for now, I’ll share it here. We did a lot of food shopping and prepping Monday, so I was really thankful to have that extra day this week to devote to getting ahead. For breakfasts this week, I made Italian Sausage Egg Muffins which been quick and easy to warm up each day. For lunches, Greg and I had jar salads. It was my first time doing these and I am hooked! They are so easy and super filling. Our favorite dinner this week was Buffalo Chicken Sweet Potatoes, but I’m also excited to try our Mexican Chicken Zucchini Boats tonight, inspired by this recipe. In the spirit of keeping it real, I will also share that the guilty pleasure we’ve been loving this week is the Cheez-Its Snack Mix. Oh my, that stuff addicting! I am hopeful we can keep this momentum going past the first week of the new year.

t h r e e

I have been getting back into podcasts lately. I haven’t listened to many since the first season of Serial, but the two I have been loving lately are Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey and I’ll Have Another with Lindsey Hein. Definitely check them out!

Attention Florida residents — The Discover Disney ticket is back this year with both 3 day and 4 day options. We are so excited to take advantage of the great deal! Also, SeaWorld is offering the Preschool Pass again!

f i v e

I am loving several books right now. Last month, I finished Emily Ley’s Grace, Not Perfection: Embracing Simplicity, Celebrating Joy and it was amazing! I highly recommend it for any woman in any stage of life right now. I am onto The Magnolia Story and loving it so far. I am hoping to get it done before my classwork ramps up. I also got a couple cookbooks for Christmas too which is helping in the meal planning department: Run Fast, Eat Slow and Inspiralize Everything.
