Happy Friday!

This is no surprise but it’s MARCH MADNESS time!! It’s the most wonderful time of the year!! We went out to lunch yesterday to watch the start of the games, but unfortunately we didn’t pick back up until the IU game last night. Not only did IU win, but our friends were on TV with their sweet baby girl! The cutest little Hoosier fan ever!

Our little leprechauns celebrated St. Patrick’s Day at school on Thursday with no school uniforms and their comfy green clothes. At dinner, Kenley went on and on about the leprechaun came into their room during nap time and made a big, big mess! He took blankets off four of her friends (she also provided the names) and took all of the backpacks off the hooks. He also flipped over “just one table” near the kitchen. It was the best story and I really wish I would have gotten it all on video. She was so amped up it!

I voted on Tuesday and it was awesome. To be honest, it had been a while since I actually visited the polls due to getting absentee ballots the last few elections, so it was pretty exciting!

I just downloaded the Think Dirty app last night and I have been scanning items in our house like crazy… Has anyone else used this yet? What do you think?

We just started watching The People v. OJ Simpson this week, which is the first season of American Crime Story. We are hooked. We’ve watched an episode every night this week and it is so good! I highly recommend!

It’s tournament time, which means March Madness is right around the corner. The Hoosiers play today against Michigan with the hopes of continuing their streak right into the big dance.

Peyton Manning retired this week after 18 years. What a great guy he is.

It’s March and the weather here has been amazing! Beach and pool season is right around the corner and ironically enough, the Hanna Andersson catalog showed up in my mailbox today. Oh so many cute swimsuits on sale right now!

What are you loving this week?

Friday I’m in Love

Happy Friday!

If you’re new to these parts, every Friday we {myself, MishaMary BethAmanda, and Laura} share what we’re loving each week. We’d love for you to join! Share anything, from the big things to the little things, whatever makes you happy! Let’s get to it!

Some probably think I am a selfish mom because I sometimes rearrange our family calendar so I can go for a run; I make a point to go out with the girls; I am working to advance my career; and the list goes on and on; but, all of these things keep me sane and actually makes me a better mom (and wife). So selfish moms, read on: To All the Selfish Moms

We hit up the Old Navy spring break sale last weekend to stock up on some things for the kids and I snagged a the Pixie chino for me. I had heard good things about the Pixie so I definitely wanted to try them. They are a little bit more form fitting than some of my other pants, but they are SO comfy!! I got the classic khaki, but I definitely want to get a couple other colors.

t h r e e

Let’s talk food. I have tried a couple new recipes lately that I must share. The first is Crock Pot Turkey Chili. It was really good and as an added bonus, it’s from Skinny Taste so it’s also good for you! The second one is Cheesy Chicken Broccoli and Rice Casserole. Greg has declared this to be in his top five favorite meals I make and it’s all about the rotisserie chicken. You have to try it! Lastly, I have been making overnight oats for breakfast this week and I’m definitely onto something. Hopefully I’ll have some good concoctions to share with you soon.

While I was falling into the Instagram rabbit hole, I came across Stately Type and I am in love. I have a weird love of maps, geography, and the United States, so these tees are right up my alley.

You didn’t think I was going to go through this whole blog post without mentioning March Madness did you? Well it’s finally here, the best four days of college basketball. Back to back games, bracket busters, everything. I love it. Kenley filled out her first bracket this year. I gave her the two mascots of each game and she picked one of them until her whole bracket was filled. Now it’s time for the Hoosiers to bring it!

2015 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament

// source //

March Madness is right around the corner and the B1G Tournament well underway. The Hoosiers played last night and live to see another day! They will play Maryland tonight at 6:30pm! This is getting me very excited for the nonstop basketball watching that will be happening next week.

I attended my third Meet + Make last night hosted by Sarah Hearts at West Elm. We painted a set of glassware, had delicious treats, chatted with friends, and made a wish list of everything I want from West Elm (which is basically the entire store).

I had been thinking about jumping on the essential oils bandwagon for a while. After Crosby’s last ear infection, I decided to take the plunge. I ordered the Young Living starter kit and it arrived this week! I will admit that I am a little overwhelmed at all of the options and possibilities but I am so excited to learn more and incorporate the oils into our lives. I’m sure I’ll be sharing my favorites soon enough!

Newsroom is back for its third and final season…so very bittersweet, but we are back to being obsessed. Season three picked up with the bombings at the Boston Marathon. It was crazy reliving the whole thing again and I have to say that I did get a little emotional. The show is seriously amazing.

Greg and I had a date night this week! We try to get out just the two of us once a month, but that rarely happens. This week we got tickets to the Magic game against the Clippers. Our tickets were in the all you can eat/drink section, so it really couldn’t get any better. I sported my Victor Oladipo shirt and the Orlando Magic Twitter account retweeted one of my tweets. It was a good night! Afterwards we met some friends out downtown and had a celebratory birthday drink before heading home and crawling into bed by 11pm.

Amazon Lightning Deals are my jam right now. I’ve scored several Christmas gifts for the kids including one of their big ticket items at a ridiculous price. Greg and I are still talking about how great of deal we got. The only caveat is that there are a limited number of deals available per item so you have to scope out the upcoming deals and act fast when they go live. I may have an alarm set on my phone labeled “Amazon Lightning Deal”.

One of the perks of living in central Florida is that friends sometimes visit on vacation. We had a chance to meet up with Megan and her family last night at Downtown Disney for dinner and it was so great to catch up with her AND meet her fellas.

Ok friends, your turn! What are you loving this week?

my weekend in photos

Untitled

friday was an early release day from work so we headed down to the mall to see the big guy.
you can’t help but to get into the christmas spirit when you see the amazing decorations.

Untitled

santa was a success!
i promise we still love thanksgiving, but it’s just worth the early trip to beat the crowds.
i’m also happy to report there were no tears!

Untitled

after santa, we headed to dinner.

we rarely go out to dinner…at a restaurant…so it was a fun change of pace.

Untitled

i am trying to be on my game this year and have already gotten our christmas cards!
don’t worry, i’ll wait until after thanksgiving to send them out.

saturday morning we headed out for a chilly walk.

Untitled

daddy left for work in the morning and didn’t return until very late.
in the meantime, the kids and i ran some errands, got a car wash, and came home to a giant dragonfly (the size of my head) in the house.
we proceeded to have a picnic dinner of junk food on our bathroom floor (with the door shut) and after bedtime i locked myself back in the bedroom.
thankfully, greg saved the day at 1am when he got home from work.
i also like to send greg pictures of the kids sleeping on the monitor when he’s working, because really, what’s cuter than sleeping nuggets?

Untitled

four hours after greg got home, i got out of bed to head out for 10 miles.
we survived, but it wasn’t our best showing, and i’m feeling it.

Untitled

our meet and greet this month with the running group included drinks and painting.
i’m pretty impressed with the final result even though i know it’s definitely not great.
it sure was fun though!

the pineapple dress lives on!

tonight we headed out to the arena for the home opener of the ucf knights!

kenley loved looking for knightro!

Greg and I had our first date night this week since we added another child to the mix.
It was long overdue and we had a great time!
We had awesome seats to the last Magic game of the season against the Pacers, and we got to see Victor [Oladipo], my favorite Hoosier, play!

Volvo released a prototype this week of a space-saving rear-facing inflatable car seat.
How amazing would this be for travel?
Let’s hope it’s available for purchase before our trips this fall!

I’m always sad to see the college basketball season come to an end,
but I love the way it goes out.

Greg proclaimed this is the best dinner I’ve made to date:
Baked Spaghetti from Six Sisters’ Stuff
I prepared it on Sunday for Monday’s dinner, which helped immensely.
I also only used 2 cups of shredded cheese instead of the 4 cups it called for and it was still delicious.
Give it a try! I’m definitely adding it to our dinner lineup.

t h r e e

Freshly washed sheets.
Really, there is nothing better and I always forget how much I love it
until I climb into bed the night the sheets have been washed.
It’s even better when your husband does it without you knowing!

As soon as I saw this book was coming out, I knew we had to have it.
No, really. I pre-ordered it.
It is awesome.
Greg and I crack up every time we read it, so naturally Kenley thinks it’s hilarious too.
It’s the little things, ya know?

t w o

Two words: March Madness
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. I’m talking, right up there with Christmas.
What’s better than continuous basketball for four straight days and rooting for Cinderella teams?
Never mind the fact that my bracket was busted the first game of the day yesterday.
You win some and you lose some, I guess.
I’ll be cheering for most of the underdogs from here on out, as well as the remaining teams in the Big Ten.

t h r e e

Let me tell you how much of a hot mess I am.
I got up from lunch on campus this week and LEFT MY PURSE hanging on the back of the chair.
And by purse, I mean my entire life in one bag.
Miraculously, I got a call from another office saying a student turned it in there.
Thank you Jesus. What an amazing person.
Unfortunately, they didn’t leave their name, so there was no way for me to repay them,
but I fully intend on paying it forward.
That student restored my faith in humanity this week. Whoever you are, thank you.
