my weekend in photos

Untitled

thursday night, we had greg’s holiday party at enzo’s on the lake. our dinner was amazing and it was a really fun night.

Untitled

we woke up on friday to a cool and crisp day. too bad it didn’t stay long.

Untitled

after work on friday, we headed down to sarasota!

Untitled

after staying up late on friday and getting up early on saturday, these two were a barrel of fun on our run. kenley didn’t feel well which meant they both took a much needed, very long nap.

Untitled

everyone was much happier after nap time!

the girls.

Untitled

it was a perfect day for a boat ride.

Untitled

afterwards, we headed down to the beach to make our sandman! we should have brought a hat with us.

Untitled

while i miss the cold sometimes, this isn’t so bad.

Untitled

we got fancied up for dinner to celebrate grammy’s birthday!

Untitled

gorgeous lights on st. armands circle.

we headed home on sunday for a day of errands and getting stuff done around the house. we got so much done but we were exhausted by the time our heads hit the pillows.

how was your weekend?!

Untitled

we headed down to sarasota for the long weekend to spend some time at grammy’s house! we got up on saturday morning and went down to the dock for some fishing.

Untitled

crosby didn’t quite have the necessary attention span for fishing, but kenley enjoyed it!

Untitled

we hit up the mote marine lab & aquarium on saturday, which was super fun. this guy was by far my favorite. more photos to come!

Untitled

we fished again before dinner and greg caught one with the mickey mouse fishing pole!

Untitled

we went out for a family run on sunday morning and ended up doing four miles. it was brutal between pushing the kids and the heat and humidity. i ran the bridge and greg took the kids to the top, where kenley accidentally dropped her rubber fish into the ocean…hence the saddest face ever.

Untitled

we headed to the beach after our run fully expecting to cool off in the water…until we saw this sign. needless to say our beach trip was short-lived.

Untitled

ready for the party to get started!

Untitled

the kids had such a great time playing with their second cousins. we all had a great time catching up with family.

sunday sunset over the water.

Untitled

our last walk to starbucks of the weekend before it was time to head home. it was back to the grind once we got home, running errands and packing lunches.

we had such a fun long weekend away. it was much needed!
how was your long weekend?

happy labor day!

my [long] weekend in photos

i took friday off and after not doing so hot with my runs all week, i hopped on the treadmill for a hilly three mile interval workout. great way to start the long weekend!

Untitled

greg and i packed up the car and picked the kids up from school just before nap time to head south. thanks florida weather for making it an enjoyable ride.

after swimming, we took the kayak out. it was short lived, but still fun.

Untitled

the kids did some fishing. also short lived.

Untitled

crosby and i went out for starbucks on saturday morning and got to see some trucks around town. cars in hand, watching trucks, and getting pushed around in the stroller made him a happy camper.

Untitled

we took the boat out on saturday morning to try to beat a little bit of the heat.

thankful for the clouds.

looking for dolphins!

Untitled

after nap storms called for a movie on the couch.

Untitled

we had a few visitors at the dock on saturday after all the rain.

it was crazy to see them that close.

Untitled

i tackled that bridge twice during my six mile run on sunday morning. my legs were definitely feeling it.

Untitled

it sure was a pretty run as the sun was coming up, but i missed my running buddies!

Untitled

a little beach time before heading home. the water felt amazing.

Untitled

on the way home, we hit up the rays game and it worked out perfectly that they were playing the mets!

Untitled

poor kenley needs a new mets shirt!

Untitled

kenley kept asking if mr. met was going to be at the game and it was hard explaining that he probably wouldn’t be there since it was an away game for the mets. she was so excited to see him when we got there!

Untitled

ashley & britton met us at the game so it was great to hang out with them.

we had a great weekend away at grammy’s house, but we were very sad that grammy wasn’t there! it’s hard to believe summer is coming to an end and school is starting in two short weeks.

how was your weekend?

Christmas 2014

We had a wonderful Christmas this year! We headed down to Grammy’s house on Monday night after I got off work. The kids were out of school all week and their cousins were already in from Colorado.

The days leading up to Christmas were filled with swimming, canoeing, and boating. We took walks, hung out with the family, and got some running in.

Christmas Eve Eve swimming sesh! #gilbochristmas2014 #cousins #kenleydee

We got dressed for Christmas Eve dinner and of course, had to sneak in a photo shoot with the kids. After our photo shoot, the kids got to open a couple gifts from Grammy.

After dinner, the kids made and decorated cookies for Santa!

Christmas morning arrived and the kids opened their gifts. We had a great brunch, including mimosas, and then it was time for the adults to open their gifts. Conveniently, the kids were all playing with their toys and Crosby was down for his nap.

IMG_2742

After everyone else had their nap time, we all headed down to the beach. Drew was determined to jump in the ocean on Christmas Day. It was the first time any of us had our feet in the sand on Christmas. It was a lot busier than I expected, so I guess everyone else had the same idea. Everyone got in the water except for Crosby and I. It was a tad cold for my liking and he took a little nap in the Ergo while everyone played.

After the beach, Greg and I snuck out of the house and took the canoe out. It was extremely relaxing and peaceful out there.

After a great Christmas dinner and then game night with the fam, we headed back to our house the next morning. It was so so great to see Greg’s family and spend Christmas with them. When we got back home, my parents were already there and we celebrated Christmas with them.

We finished off the night with a steak dinner and a very early bedtime for everyone. We had such a fun week celebrating Christmas, but it was also exhausting. The kids had a blast with their cousins and the holidays keep getting more fun as they get older.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas!

we then hit up the beach for real. it was crosby’s first time!

he didn’t love it was much as i thought he would.

Friday morning breakfast date. We'll take it!

i had a doctor’s appointment on friday morning, so greg and i had time for a quick breakfast date
at starbucks after we dropped kenley off. we’ll take whatever we can get!

Untitled

i scored 35 kcups of decaf on amazon for $11.50!
i was pumped! it really is the little things in life.

we headed down to visit grammy on saturday morning, which meant kenley got to go swimming!

Untitled

we forgot a sippy cup so she was forced to drink out of a big girl cup.
she’s getting better and better at it.

Untitled

after sleeping in until 7:30am (!!!), we watched a little bit of mickey mouse.
it’s her favorite show, if you can’t tell.

Untitled

we headed out for a walk down by the beach, which didn’t last long
for this very pregnant girl in the summer heat.
i’m ready for fall… but i’m afraid this baby will be here before fall will…

Grades entered. First semester as the instructor is in the books! It was a busy six weeks. ✏

i am officially done with my summer class! my first semester is in the books.

Anna Maria Island 2013

It’s been quiet here on the blog, but rest assured, we are back to the real world.
We had a wonderful week away following the 4th of July holiday & our anniversary,
where we headed over to Anna Maria Island for a family vacation.

This was our second time on the island. Ironically enough, the last time we were all there
was at our last family vacation almost exactly two years ago when I was pregnant with Kenley.
Last time, we went over the 4th of July and I was 24 weeks along… this year we decided to
go a week later since the price was a lot better and again, I was 24 weeks along.
We’ve already joked that the next time we go, probably in 2 more years, I’ll be getting my party on, finally!

We were in the market for a house to rent with a pool so we could be occupied during nap time each day.
This house did not disappoint. It was so beautifully decorated and had a great outdoor space.
The best part was that it was only a couple blocks from the beach.
The bonus points came when we showed up and there was a ton of pool toys AND a wagon.
Big win for us!

Untitled

After a couple of days, Kenley was a rock star in the pool.
She loved swimming, but also loved when we filled up empty cans with water,
and she got to pour them out. I’m not kidding when I say that she did this for almost an hour one day.
She also loved throwing empty (or full) cans into the pool, which became tricky
for those who still had full beers just sitting around the pool.

We got her a Puddle Jumper right before we left that worked out wonderfully.
She had no problem keeping it on and was even “swimming” with it by the end of the week.
She also did a lot of swimming in her flip flops since the pavers were so hot
when she got in and out of the pool. This led to some wicked flip flop tan lines!

Untitled

Pool time also included intense games of Pro Kadima, which meant the
boys battled all week to see who could have the longest streak.
Dad & Michael won with a grand total of 184 (or so they say!).

Untitled

The beach was also great. Kenley loved being in the water and it was so warm!
We usually went to the beach for a couple hours in the morning, then headed back for nap time.
We did a great job of sticking with Kenley’s schedule and she slept great for both naps & bedtime.
After nap time, we hung out in the pool for the afternoon.

On Friday we headed out right when the storms were rolling in.
You can see the rainbow and the clear line of storms to the left.
Luckily, the rest of the day was beautiful.

Untitled

Went to the beach & it started raining, so we took a selfie. #goodstory #ami2013

Thursday, we took a break from the sun and headed up to St. Pete
for the Rays vs. Twins baseball game at Tropicana Field.

In addition to the pool and beach…and just relaxing in general,
we ate well, drank plenty, and played some games.
Apples to Apples was the biggest hit, until we went through all the cards. Twice.
Some of our favorite restaurants included Sharky’s (a favorite from last time),
The Beachhouse, Tortilla Bay, Lobstah’s, and of course Two Scoops, which we got a lot!

A lot of these photos were taken with our iPhones and a few good one with my camera.
I really wanted to use my camera more, but it was just easier for one person
to whip out their phone, than for me to be in charge of pictures all week.
Looking back, I’m not sure where the week went!
We had a great time hanging with family and relaxing as much as we could.
Anna Maria Island, we’ll see you again in two years.

Now that we’re back from vacation, I have a lot of posts to catch up on,
so stay tuned!
