heather and i ran and enjoyed some cool temperatures for five miles on saturday morning. i wore my long sleeves and our run ended at starbucks, so already our day was off to a good start.
crosby and hudson warming up before the girls’ soccer game.
crosby said “it’s so freezing!”
the little monsters had their last soccer game of the season on saturday. they played awesome and kenley scored another goal! they had such a great season and kenley improved vastly from last season.
saturday afternoon, we headed to legoland for brick or treat! the kids got to wear their halloween costumes and looked incredible! i have a lot of photos from the day, so i will share more soon!
crosby and his buddy huck are only seven days apart so we got to celebrate his third birthday this morning at the park!
the coolest roller slide!
running off some energy and enjoying the perfect weather.
celebrating these two with pizza and cupcakes.
we had some ups and downs this weekend, but overall it was great! the weather was gorgeous and we continued the birthday celebrations.
how was your weekend?
after work on friday, we headed over to celebrate wyatt’s third birthday!
so much fun with these crazy kids!
we were at the soccer field first thing on saturday morning. crosby thinks he is on the team and will warm up, do drills, and shake hands at the end of the game, but during the game he is so sad that he can’t play. he had big crocodile tears on saturday when the game started and he had to sit on the sidelines.
the little monsters had two games in a row on saturday, which is crazy for a group of four year olds, but they did such a great job!
on saturday afternoon, we had a dinner party with copycat restaurant recipes. it was so fun!
we had a ten mile run this morning. it was hard and humid. when is the fall weather coming?
the kids spent a lot of time on the patio in their swim suits today.
of course this one refused to nap today when greg was at work all day. i sat on the couch for a good twenty minutes and just watched him play so sweetly by himself while kenley was sleeping.
we went to the park for a little bit, but it’s just too hot for that nonsense. the rest of the day these two played together so nicely while i got a lot done around the house. we finished the day and celebrated national cheeseburger day at smashburger for dinner.
we had a great weekend! how was yours?!
greg worked on friday night so the kiddos and i held down the house. heather and i got up saturday morning to run and the weather was absolutely horrible. it was cold and so windy so our 8 miles turned into 6 and i was perfectly fine with that decision.
afterwards, we headed to o2b kids to celebrate kyler’s birthday, super hero style!
crosby says “cheeeeeese”!
happy birthday kyler girl!
we debated having a fire on saturday night but figured it was too cold for that and we wouldn’t enjoy it, so we watched the martian instead on our warm, comfy couch. it was really good!
kenley and i did a little craft together this morning after i saw this pin on pinterest. we modified it a little and used washi tape instead of ribbon, so now she has festive artwork in her bedroom!
i headed to panera to get some work done when the kids went down for their nap and ended up meeting a friend for a chat and a quick trip to target. we ended the day with a very quick trip to the y and a broncos victory!
we had a fun, chilly weekend. how was yours?
Last month, we celebrated Kenley’s 4th birthday and Crosby’s 2nd birthday with a joint party. I really wanted to do a “Choo Choo I’m 2” theme for Crosby. He is obsessed with all things trains so the theme would have been absolutely perfect, but I wasn’t sure how I would make that a boy/girl birthday party. Thankfully, Pinterest had me covered. I quickly found a Choo Choo and Tutu theme party invitation and I was sold.
I did a horrible job of taking pictures before (or even during) the party, so I will list the sources of inspiration and where I got the items, even if they are not pictured.
I ordered the invitation and printable party pack from swankypress on Etsy and printed everything myself. We opted for Publix cupcakes this year since they are half the price of Sweet and just as delicious. They did not disappoint!
I just love paper straws and I got the most perfect set in navy, pink, and gold from MoreSprinkledJoy on Etsy. The menu included fruit, veggies, meatball, peanut butter and jelly sandwich halves, buffalo chicken dip, juice pouches, water, and beer.
The party favors were pink tutus and conductor hats. Crosby was rocking a pink tutu by the end of the night and looked pretty darn cute in it. I got Kenley’s pettiskirt for free with the purchase of the tutus, which was awesome! Their birthday shirts were from Old Navy (here and here).
The plates and cutlery were Cheeky from Target since the colors matched up great and it was one less stop I had to make. I love their stuff!
We did an open house style so guests could come and go as they please. There were a lot of kids running around at one point (hence why the pictures are scarce), but it was such a great day. The kids had an awesome time and loved having their friends over.
Happy birthday to our sweet nuggets!
we tried out blaze on friday for lunch. so delicious and the name and smiley face was a nice touch. we’ll definitely be back!
by the time i got home on friday, the kids had already gone swimming, taken a bath, and were in their pjs! daddy doesn’t mess around. that left us time to go for a walk around the block to check out the “spooky” decorations.
friday night and saturday morning was dedicated to birthday party prep!
saturday afternoon was birthday party time! i didn’t get nearly enough pictures, but i will share what i do have soon.
sunday morning started at 4am with the lake nona half marathon! again, more pictures to come.
greg and i headed down to the usa women’s soccer game against brazil at the citrus bowl in the afternoon. it was our first time there and our first time seeing a live soccer game. it was super fun and really exciting!
afterwards, we headed downtown for dinner & drinks with friends before falling into bed at 9pm from pure exhaustion.
we had a crazy, busy weekend, but it was so fun!
i can’t even believe october is almost over. how was your weekend?
after working on saturday morning, i headed up to great day in the country to help out sally at her booth. we had a lot of visitors and had a fun day chatting away. i headed home with this darling garland from another cute little booth.
i came home to see that this one convinced daddy to let her wear her pineapple dress. on a chilly november day.
after a beautiful day yesterday, kayla and i had plans to run this morning. it was in the 50s and raining the entire time we ran our 8 miles. surprisingly it wasn’t too bad but a hot shower and hot coffee were much needed.
we built a lot of fun things this weekend.
this one. he went into the shower today and grabbed the shaving cream then went right into the bathroom and threw it into the toilet. you can’t leave him alone for a second.
we celebrated charlie’s 5th birthday today with a fun minion party and this yummy cake!
these two are only six weeks apart, but it’s amazing what a difference six weeks makes at this age. they are too cute.
we had a good, but busy weekend and i failed miserably at taking pictures. better luck next weekend.
how was your weekend?
Crosby’s first birthday was under construction and we had such a great time celebrating!
Hand built sandwiches from Publix
Nuts & bolts – goldfish, Chex Mix
Lumber – pretzel rods
The plate, napkins, utensils (tools), and cups were from Party City.
The Gladiator GarageWorks small bins were repurposed from Greg’s tool bench and worked great for displaying food and utensils.
We used caution tape for decorating around the house.
The stripe straws were from Little Free Radical which were great because I got to choose the colors I wanted. Most of the “construction” mixes had orange in them which was not one of my party colors.
The fuel included water and lemonade, as well as beer for the site managers.
Dessert included dirt pudding and donuts as spare tires.
Crosby got his very own construction smash cake, made by Greg! He followed this recipe.
The construction hats doubled as decoration and party favors.
The stickers, food cards, and the invitation were done by Michelle at This Grey House.
I used yellow duck tape on the black table cloth to make the road, both from Party City.
I displayed Crosby’s monthly pictures so everyone could see how he’s grown each month.
The construction trucks were from Amazon, but we only paid six bucks for them, I believe Target has the same pack.
Happy first birthday sweet boy!
We celebrated Kenley’s third birthday in a colorful way. I had so much fun looking for decorations and planning this party. I cannot tell you how many times I said “ROY G BIV” in my head over the course of the process.
Paper lanterns and tissue poms are from Just Artifacts.
I made the confetti with card stock and a circle punch, super easy!
The rainbow fruit platter was one of my favorite things to do.
Food cards and the invitation were made by Michelle at This Grey House.
I made the chocolate covered pretzels with rainbow sprinkles.
All of the paper products and party hats are from Wal-Mart. I ordered everything online with free shipping.
The frames are TOLSBY from IKEA and I made the garland from felt balls from Brickyard Buffalo.
The birthday girl!
I am very impressed with ourselves for pulling off the rainbow cake. I got very specific instructions from Heather on how to go about the cake and her instructions were spot on. It was a joint effort, but Greg did most of the work. I just love how pretty is looks and how yummy it was!
We had such a fun time celebrating Kenley’s third birthday! Thanks to everyone who celebrated with us!
kenley celebrated her birthday on friday at school then we met up with her old teacher who was back in town for dinner.
it was great catching up with her and we were excited her trip coincided with kenley’s birthday.
while greg worked on friday night, i did some birthday party prep.
birthday party prep continued saturday morning.
the rainbow fruit was one of my favorite parts of the party.
// chambray button down // leggings // bow-tie boots // plaid rolled-sleeve shirt //
ready to party!
crosby had a great time partying too, he’s ready for his own party.
// boo pajamas //
and then we woke up on sunday with a three year old!
// ruffled tee // striped long-sleeve henley //
we headed down to our favorite shaded park to get some pictures of the kids.
i’ll be posting many more soon.
sunday was the last day of the fall healthy kids running series.
kenley did awesome! it’s amazing how much she improved since the first race.
since it was the final race, she got her medal!
the first of many race bling to come.
we had a wonderful weekend celebrating our little three year old.
how was your weekend?
For Kenley’s second birthday party, we went with a crowd favorite: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!
As soon as I saw the “Oh “Two”dles” theme on Pinterest for a second birthday,
I knew I couldn’t pass it up.
There were tons of great ideas out there, but we kept the party pretty low key.
I didn’t take as many pictures as I would have liked, but I do want to share the details.
My good friend Michelle whipped up the invitations for me, which turned out perfect.
I gave her very little direction and she knew exactly what I wanted.
She made my job easy, that’s for sure!
The minimal decor was just enough.
The Happy Birthday sign was borrowed from a friend
and I got red, yellow, and black balloons filled the morning of the party.
The menu included:
Hot Diggity Dogs (Pigs in a Blanket)
Donald’s Dip (Buffalo Chicken Dip & tortilla chips)
Figuro’s Fruit (Platter)
Von Drake’s Veggies (Platter)
Daisy’s Drinks (Lemonade & bottled water)
Minnie Cupcakes (from Sweet)
Kenley opened her presents with the help of daddy and her friends
and enjoyed the frosting off of her very own cupcake.
She did a great job blowing out the “hot” candles!
The kids had a great time running around inside & out.
Overall, it was a successful second birthday party!
Here is Kenley’s first birthday party.
