Friday I’m in Love

Happy Friday!

o n e

I am sure you all know how I feel about my running club, but I’ll say it again…I love it. There is a great article out right now on active.com on Why You Should Join A Women’s Running Club. The article features the founder of the national running club Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which I am a part of locally, but it really goes for any running club. If you’re considering joining one, I urge you to just give it a try!

Thanks to Katie with K. Bri Photography, I now have an updated head shot! I have to say, I love it. It’s hard to say that about pictures of yourself, but sometimes you just have to get out of your own way.

My favorite thing this week was the fact that it was a four day week. Greg and I spent the entire day together on Monday and it was just what we needed. Who do I need to talk to about getting a three day weekend every weekend? Or, I would settle for just once a month!

Happy Friday and happy October!!

o n e

I will just jump right in and start gushing about how much I love October and how it is my favorite month of the year. If you don’t know, it’s my birthday month!! Of course, I was thrilled to find out when I met Greg (way back in 2006) that his birthday is only four days before mine — yay birthday week for us!! Fast forward to present time and I have since birthed two kiddos in the month of October so, it is officially birthday month for the Gilbos and we already have a jam-packed month of exciting things happening!

With all the fun that October brings, it also brings a cause that is near and dear to my heart – Breast Cancer Awareness month. During my undergrad years as a Zeta Tau Alpha, each fall we held our annual philanthropy event Big Man On Campus (BMOC) to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. It was an amazing event and one that is still going strong today.

On that same note, it’s time for A Crucial Catch with the NFL! I loved seeing all of the pink gear last night during the Thursday Night Football game and I am excited to see it the rest of the month. If you’re going to an NFL game this month, be on the lookout for members of ZTA handing out pink ribbons!

Paper straws. I love them. I am so excited about this combo pack I found for Kenley’s birthday party. I also got a “build your own” pack for Crosby’s party, which was perfect since I wanted specific colors. I also love party planning. Did I mention it’s going to be a fun month?

Every October, I love seeing the NFL go pink for their “A Crucial Catch” campaign. I especially love that ZTA and NFL partner to help raise awareness about breast cancer. You can read more about their partnership here. Make sure you look for some Zetas passing out pink ribbons if you’re going to an NFL game this month!

This is the epitome of “it’s the little things”,
but this week I was able to wear jeans to work three of the five days.
It really is such a game changer, especially on a Monday morning getting ready.

My friend sent me a link to the Ergobaby Performance Collection Carrier this week and it looks amazing!
Granted, I have not tried this yet, but I think it would be perfect for the summer months; and really year around here in Florida. Where was this two and a half years ago?!

Does anyone have it? I want to hear more about it!

I hated the guilt I felt when I watched this video, but I love how eye opening it is.
It’s beautifully put together with a great message. I hope you’ll watch (if you haven’t already).
I always think about unplugging more, so here’s to actually doing it!

Twenty Weeks :: so long Peyton

It’s a sad day for us Colts fans.

After 14 seasons, Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts have emotionally parted ways.
When Kenley was born, the Colts had not won a game in the 2011 season.
Luckily, we did end up winning two. TWO GAMES. So silly.
Don’t you love how we say “we” like us fans have anything to do with the wins and loses?
Anyway, it was not a pretty season for the Colts without Peyton,
and I assume that the next few seasons will be dubbed as “rebuilding” years.
It’s crazy to think that Kenley will grow up knowing Peyton as the former Colts quarterback
who turned the Colts franchise around, brought us a Super Bowl title (with Dungy’s help of course),
and helped Indy be one of the most successful Super Bowl hosting cities ever.
Peyton, we’ll miss you, but wish you luck and hopefully we can see you win at least one more ring.
Colts, we hope that Luck will bring the city another ring at some point.

In other news, Kenley is changing every day.
I know I say that every week and I’m sure I’ll continue saying it,
but she is very alert, looks around all the time, and seems like she knows what is going on.

She reaches and grabs for everything, often with her mouth already open, knowing that’s right where it’s going.
For example, I was carrying her facing outward walking around the kitchen on Saturday
while Greg was making waffles and the syrup was sitting on the breakfast bar right at her level.
As I walked by, she reached out for it. I, of course, thought it was cute, and walked by it again so Greg could see.
Yep, you guessed it, the second time, she just hit it and the full bottle fell to the floor,
cracking the cap and shooting gooey, sticky syrup everywhere.
Awesome.

She has found her feet and is starting to realize she can put those, too, in her mouth.
I’m sure there will be pictures coming soon.

what did you do this weekend?
did your team win?

Are you ready for some football?

Last Friday night we got an email from one of Greg’s colleagues
asking if we wanted to go to the Colts/Bucs game in Tampa,
which happened to be the Monday Night Football game this week.

At this point on Friday night, I wasn’t feeling well at all,
we had just seen Contagion (good movie by the way), so I had been sitting for a while,
and was having some severe sciatic nerve pain, so I was a little skeptical.

But, it was the Colts. and MNF.
and something that we may not be able to just go and do very soon.

So, we decided to go, which I’m SO glad that we did!

It started off a little parking pass, that turned out to be so helpful!
We found a spot with our name on it.

Our seats were in a suite, which was so nice and comfy!

There were members of Zeta Tau Alpha at the game
passing out pink ribbons for Breast Cancer Awareness
and the NFL/ZTA campaign “A Crucial Catch”.

This made me so happy and so proud to be a Zeta.
I love watching the NFL in October and seeing all the pink.

Of course, we wish the Colts could have pulled out the win,
but it was actually nice to see Curtis Painter make two great plays for TDs,
something we haven’t seen much of all year!

It was a late night, but so much fun!!
