it was fun explaining to kenley that these were the cousins of her cousins in colorado. the older boys commented on how much greg looked like their uncle andy and i think kenley eventually understood the family connections. it was so great to see them!

the kids played with the water table which turned into them cleaning the furniture. can’t beat that deal!

we had the busiest weekend! it was sure fun, but we are ready for a little mini-vacation this week!

Choo Choos and Tutus

Last month, we celebrated Kenley’s 4th birthday and Crosby’s 2nd birthday with a joint party. I really wanted to do a “Choo Choo I’m 2” theme for Crosby. He is obsessed with all things trains so the theme would have been absolutely perfect, but I wasn’t sure how I would make that a boy/girl birthday party. Thankfully, Pinterest had me covered. I quickly found a Choo Choo and Tutu theme party invitation and I was sold.

IMG_3847

I did a horrible job of taking pictures before (or even during) the party, so I will list the sources of inspiration and where I got the items, even if they are not pictured.

I ordered the invitation and printable party pack from swankypress on Etsy and printed everything myself. We opted for Publix cupcakes this year since they are half the price of Sweet and just as delicious. They did not disappoint!

choo choo tutu birthday party

I just love paper straws and I got the most perfect set in navy, pink, and gold from MoreSprinkledJoy on Etsy. The menu included fruit, veggies, meatball, peanut butter and jelly sandwich halves, buffalo chicken dip, juice pouches, water, and beer.

The party favors were pink tutus and conductor hats. Crosby was rocking a pink tutu by the end of the night and looked pretty darn cute in it. I got Kenley’s pettiskirt for free with the purchase of the tutus, which was awesome! Their birthday shirts were from Old Navy (here and here).

The plates and cutlery were Cheeky from Target since the colors matched up great and it was one less stop I had to make. I love their stuff!

We did an open house style so guests could come and go as they please. There were a lot of kids running around at one point (hence why the pictures are scarce), but it was such a great day. The kids had an awesome time and loved having their friends over.

Brew Bash in Indiana

I gave you a glimpse of our long weekend on Monday, but in order to not bore you with photo after photo, I saved some for today. The reason for our trip up north was to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of my brother and Rachel. On Saturday, we headed up to Lafayette to shower Michael & Rachel with love and drink some good brew. Abbi, Maggi, and Sharon threw one heck of a brew bash. It was so fun seeing everyone and meeting Michael’s in-laws.

Our theme was “She’s about to POP!” and we had so much fun with it!

after greg got off the phone with me, apparently someone was calling her.
we sometimes say “yo lo” for hello and she’s picked up on this.

saturday, we celebrated baby hudson with a little sprinkle.
{ many more photos to come }

kenley was most excited about the leftover cupcakes.
her newest phrase is “mommy, look!” which she said every time she ate the icing with her finger.

we snuck out of the house after the kids were in bed on saturday to celebrate ryan’s birthday!
we enjoyed a couple beers, the olympics, and some smoked oysters.
it was good to get out for a couple hours and socialize with other adults.

greg was upset with the sandwich distribution, yet again.

we had a good weekend, but i didn’t get nearly enough done, as i would have liked.
however, we got to see a lot of friends, so that makes up for it.

A Sprinkle Shower

A couple weekends ago, I had the opportunity to throw a sprinkle
for a friend who is due with her second baby next week.
Since it wasn’t a full on baby shower, I ran with the idea that it was a sprinkle.
A sprinkle shower!
As soon as I saw the invitation on Pinterest, I knew it was perfect.

From there, the decor all fit into the sprinkle theme.

All of the food and drink items had to have sprinkles.

I dipped the bottle rims into a bowl of water, then into a bowl of sugar sprinkles.
They hardened perfectly within a few hours.
The bottles are Starbucks Frappuccino bottles that have now been through three parties,
and I’m sure will go through many more!

The party was at 2pm, so I figured desserts with sprinkles would be perfect.

Mini cupcakes from Sweet
Chocolate covered pretzel rods with sugar sprinkles
Sugar cookies with sprinkles
Funfetti cheese ball with vanilla wafers

The cheese ball was a big hit. It was so yummy!

We had so much fun sprinkling mama and her soon-to-be baby boy with love!

Oh “Two”dles!

For Kenley’s second birthday party, we went with a crowd favorite: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!
As soon as I saw the “Oh “Two”dles” theme on Pinterest for a second birthday,
I knew I couldn’t pass it up.
There were tons of great ideas out there, but we kept the party pretty low key.
I didn’t take as many pictures as I would have liked, but I do want to share the details.

IMG_8450

My good friend Michelle whipped up the invitations for me, which turned out perfect.
I gave her very little direction and she knew exactly what I wanted.
She made my job easy, that’s for sure!

IMG_8451

IMG_8453

The minimal decor was just enough.
The Happy Birthday sign was borrowed from a friend
and I got red, yellow, and black balloons filled the morning of the party.

The menu included:

Hot Diggity Dogs (Pigs in a Blanket)
Donald’s Dip (Buffalo Chicken Dip & tortilla chips)
Mickey’s Meatballs
Pluto’s Pouches
Goofy’s Goldfish
Figuro’s Fruit (Platter)
Von Drake’s Veggies (Platter)
Daisy’s Drinks (Lemonade & bottled water)
Minnie Cupcakes (from Sweet)

Kenley opened her presents with the help of daddy and her friends
and enjoyed the frosting off of her very own cupcake.
She did a great job blowing out the “hot” candles!

IMG_8460

The kids had a great time running around inside & out.
Overall, it was a successful second birthday party!

What Will It Bee?

I have some really great friends.
They threw me a surprise shower (or sprinkle, as some would say) to celebrate baby G2.
Not to mention, it was the cutest theme ever!

IMG_2685

IMG_2684

The shower started at 2pm so they had light appetizers.
Menu: spinach dip // cheese ball // the famous sausage balls //
pineapples & grape skewers (you know… like a bumble bee. cute right?) //
cucumber water // iced tea with honey sticks // lemonade
For dessert: mini cupcakes from Sweet.
Absolutely perfect.

We are so blessed!

Lindsey’s Nautical Baby Shower

Our dear friends Lindsey & Mitch are expecting a baby boy very soon and
I had the pleasure of throwing a baby shower with three other awesome ladies to celebrate the occasion.
This was definitely a “divide and conquer” baby shower, which was great.
We all noticed that we weren’t stressed on the morning of the shower,
when we definitely would have been if we were throwing it ourselves.

We chose the nautical theme based on the nursery decor and it couldn’t have turned out better.
Nautical is very in right now so it was easy to find inspiration on Pinterest of fun
ideas that we wanted to incorporate. Here are all the fun details:

It was fun thinking back to all the previous showers we have been to together.
Sally was pregnant with her first at Lindsey’s bridal shower, then found out on
the day of my baby shower that she was pregnant with her second.
I am now pregnant at Lindsey’s baby shower. It’s been an eventful five years of friendship!

We all had such a wonderful day celebrating Lindsey and baby Wyatt.
He is already so loved and we can’t wait for him to get here!
