28 Weeks [Round Two]

Hello third trimester!
Um, how are we here already?
My first trimester went at a snail’s pace, but where the heck did my beloved second trimester go?!
I cannot believe we are two thirds of our way through this pregnancy,
and only 12 weeks away from meeting our little nugget.

Yesterday, I had to partake in my second round of glucose testing.
This is not because I failed my first test, but because they couldn’t get a reading from my first blood draw.
Translation: they probably lost it. Awesome.
I am really hoping I pass since I have already tried both flavors of the drink and they are both equally terrible.

One hour glucose test, take two. Went with the lime instead of the orange this time. They are both horrible, FYI. #preggoproblems

I have been feeling pretty good. Worn down at times, but nothing too serious at this point.
I haven’t made it back to prenatal yoga yet, but now that my class is over, I am planning to go next week.
Per the doctor’s orders, I haven’t done any physical activity for the last nine weeks, so I am feeling very out of shape.
This is not really how I expected this pregnancy to go since one of my goals was to keep up with my running.
At the very least, I think the yoga class will help my body prepare for labor, so I am thankful I can go back now.

I have had no problems in the food department. Everything still sounds good, most of the time.
Greg has been feeling it too. All he wants to do is eat, which is really all I want to do too,
so we make a good team. Except, he gets to work out so he doesn’t gain weight, and I’m gaining a whole lot!
The same thing happened the last time around!

I am definitely feeling some sort of way about this belly.
It’s no surprise that I have less “padding” around the midsection this time.
My pre-pregnancy weight was much lower than it was the first time
and even though the scale says I have gained a lot of weight, I don’t feel like I have.
At the same time, I feel like my actual uterus is huge! Yes, that sounds weird, I know,
but it feels like my uterus is taking up every square inch of my midsection.
I know I’m only going to get bigger, I’m just not sure where I am going to put it!
At my 27 week appointment, my fundal height was 29 inches (meaning two weeks ahead).
I have sworn all along that my due date is actually October 21 (by my last menstrual cycle),
but since then they have given us due dates of October 28, 29, 30, and 31, based on our four ultrasounds.
At our last ultrasound, baby G2 was measuring on track for a October 29 due date,
so I’m not sure how my uterus is two weeks ahead of that?
In my head, my due date is sooner and the baby is just a little smaller than Kenley was,
but I’m pretty sure that’s just wishful thinking.
Now that I just put that all out there,  I’m sure I probably just jinxed myself
and I’ll go past my due date, into November…

On another note, I feel every single little movement this crazy baby makes.
I didn’t think I felt them so prominently this early last time. It’s obvious that there are
hands, feet, elbows, and knees all over the place in there and you can clearly see them from the outside.
My mom was able to see this little nugget moving around through my phone while we were on FaceTime.
It’s insane.
I’m also not sure when this baby is actually sleeping, which causes some concern for life after the womb.
He or she has 12 weeks (give or take) to get into some sort of sleep schedule!
I am definitely not complaining about all the movement. That is one thing I will miss when I’m not pregnant.

39 Weeks!

39 weeks down… and hopefully only days to go!

I’m still holding out hope for “any day now”,
but we’re still here…
so, we’ll see.

I have had sporadic contractions,
but nothing consistent or too terribly painful yet.

Baby G is now the size of a mini watermelon
and is running out of room in there.

I see and feel limbs poking out constantly
and I’m hoping she’s just trying to find her way out!

Here is a small glimpse of what I see and feel regularly.

If you nudge her, she’ll definitely nudge back!

Throughout this entire pregnancy I have thought that
there is no way that she can possibly move around in there any more,
and every day she moves, kicks, and squirms more and more.
It’s crazy!

We are so ready to meet her!!
We’ll keep you all posted!

38 Weeks!

I am still here.
And still pregnant.

38 weeks and 4 days (but who’s counting?)

Here is a quick recap of the last 5 days or so…

On Friday at my 38 week appointment, I was 2 cm dilated.
Not what I was expecting to hear… but exciting!

On Saturday, my mom flew down, just in case.

It rained ALL weekend. ALL WEEKEND.
We got about 10 inches of rain.

We were all in full nesting mode, updates on that to come.

I went back to the doctor this morning and was about 3 cm dilated.
So… literally, any day now.

My mom and I walked around ALL day. ALL DAY.
Shopping, of course.
So… hopefully, any day now.

 We’ll keep you posted! 🙂

37 Weeks!

Well, it’s October.
We’re going to have a baby this month… wow!

We are officially full term! 37 weeks!
At my weekly appointment yesterday, my doctor said if it’s time,
then it’s time,
head to the hospital!

However, I don’t think she is coming any time soon.

We spent yesterday afternoon picking up some of the items we still needed.
Everything is coming together, slowly but surely!

The car seat is installed and ready to go!

Our hospital bag is nearly packed.
Baby clothes, blankets, and sheets have been washed.
Nursery is ready to go.

We still have a few more items on our to-do list for the next couple of weeks,
but not many!

I can tell that she’s running out of room in there,
I can feel little limbs poking out pretty often
and she’s constantly moving around in there, probably trying to get comfortable,
which causes me to move around constantly,
trying to get comfortable!

I’ve been having some serious pelvic and sciatic pain the past couple of days,
which is not too fun.

On the other hand, I’ve slept really well the past few nights, so I am very thankful for that!

Look at that belly!

36 Weeks!

36 down, 4 to go!
Countdown mode has begun!

I am now going to the doctor weekly and had a good appointment today!
Measuring right on track at 36 weeks!

How I’m feeling:

I don’t even recognize myself when I see my reflection.
It’s weird.

In every way.

Sore. Everywhere.
Ribs mostly.

Swollen. Mostly just my feet & ankles most days.

But honestly, overall, not too bad.

We have gotten a lot done lately, but we still have several items on our to-do list.

Our prenatal education classes are going really well, we’ve been to two so far
and have three more to attend. They are quite interesting and slightly scary.

I think it’s really starting to hit us that we’re actually going to have a child.
So soon.

I will try to give more frequent updates as we countdown the days! 🙂

34 Weeks!

I had to go back and read where we left off,
these last two weeks have been insane.
My 32 week post seems like it was months ago!
But here we are, 34 weeks!

Baby G is the size of a cantaloupe, weighing about 4 3/4 lbs!

At my 34 week appointment today I actually measured at 34 weeks!!
This is the first time I haven’t measured ahead all pregnancy.
The doc says she is head down, which I believe because I’m starting
to definitely feel it in my lower abdomen.

As I said previously, I’m feeling very pregnant.
Starting to slow down a bit, sore, Braxton Hicks contractions,
tired… and just very large, in general.

My belly button still has not popped yet!
I’m thinking it may not at this point, but we’ll see,
it seems like it’s been on the verge for weeks now!

We are excited to begin our prenatal education courses on Monday,
so maybe we’ll actually know what we’re doing and
what we’re in for in 6 weeks! Ha!

32 Weeks!

Baby G now weighs about 3 3/4 lbs, about as much as a large jicama!
I had to Google what a jicama actually was and it turns out
that it’s some sort of turnip looking root that is very popular in Mexico.
Who knew?!

Baby G and I are progressing right along through this third trimester.
I am feeling very pregnant these days…
the Braxton Hicks contractions are in full force,
I feel her up in my ribs most of the day,
but also down in my pelvis at the same time,
and I’m getting more and more tired as the days progress.

Overall, I think I’ve had a fairly easy pregnancy,
so I’m not complaining, but I now understand how
women hit the third trimester wall… I feel like it’s quickly approaching!

We have a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks & months,
September is jam packed with weddings, baby showers,
and our prenatal education classes at the hospital!

Seriously, this little girl is going to be here before we know it!

You can see how I’ve progressed every week or two here!

30 Weeks!

30 weeks! Three quarters of the way done!
I cannot believe that we only have 10 weeks left!

This little girl is now approximately 15 inches long
and weighs about 3 lbs which is about the weight of a head of cabbage.

I can definitely tell she’s getting bigger because,
well, I’M getting bigger,
and she’s always finding new places to kick and squirm in there.

I feel like every couple weeks I give the same updates,
I’m still feeling pretty good, definitely becoming more uncomfortable
and sleeping is getting more and more difficult.
I think it’s going to continue that way until the very end though.

However, here are some new updates… my belly button STILL has not popped out yet.
It’s still somewhere between an innie and an outie, still pretty gross.
I had my first intense craving this week,
I was dying for Quiznos for lunch on Tuesday… no clue why,
we don’t even eat Quiznos that much. But, I got it and it was delish.
I can no longer wear my wedding rings ::insert pouty face::
My hands don’t look like they are swollen, but I guess they are…
it’s not horrible, just too close to risk it in my opinion.
My feet and ankles are becoming more swollen… joy.

I definitely do not think this picture does any justice to how big I really am.
so take it for what it’s worth!

Keep an eye out for nursery pictures coming very soon!

28 Weeks!

Well here we are… 28 weeks,
the third trimester.
The homestretch.
Wow. Where has the time gone?

I am very sad to see the energy-filled second trimester go,
but we are just one short trimester away from meeting our little girl!

One of my many goals during this process
was to have the nursery complete by the end of my second trimester.
While it’s not fully complete, we have made great headway
and our much anticipated trip to IKEA tomorrow will definitely help too.

I am satisfied with moving the (self-imposed) deadline
back a few weeks to the start of the fall semester.

We visited our final daycare yesterday, which we loved!
Fingers crossed we get in (we are on the waiting list now)!

I have been feeling pretty good still.
Sleeping is becoming more difficult, but not too bad yet.
I am/was definitely a back sleeper, so sleeping
on my side does not  feel great. My hips hurt every time I wake up,
which is about every hour or so (either to roll over or go potty).

The weirdest thing… my belly button.
It totally freaks me out. It’s flat right now,
not the extreme innie I had, but it has not popped out yet either.
It’s just a matter of time.

I was shocked when I saw my picture today,
then looked at my picture from the previous two weeks.
It’s not a wonder I can feel her kicking my ribs now,
she has definitely moved up a lot since my 26 week picture!

She is now the size of a Chinese cabbage!

In other news, my glucose test came back normal,
so no three hour test for me! Wahoo!
