Brew Bash in Indiana

I gave you a glimpse of our long weekend on Monday, but in order to not bore you with photo after photo, I saved some for today. The reason for our trip up north was to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of my brother and Rachel. On Saturday, we headed up to Lafayette to shower Michael & Rachel with love and drink some good brew. Abbi, Maggi, and Sharon threw one heck of a brew bash. It was so fun seeing everyone and meeting Michael’s in-laws.

We had such a great weekend celebrating these two and seeing family!
We’re definitely looking forward to the wedding next month!

Our Wedding, Five Years Later

Five years ago today, I married the love of my life.
I am still amazed by the way God brought this Long Island boy and homegrown Hoosier together.
I am excited to share our special day with you.

All festivities were held at the Hilton Indianapolis Hotel & Suites.
We loved having everything in one place, especially for the many
out of town guests who were new to the area.

The day started bright and early for pictures.
Greg and I had our moment seeing each other before the ceremony
so we could get rolling early and get pictures out of the way.
This allowed us to have more time during cocktail hour to enjoy ourselves and mingle.

We took pictures at various locations in Indianapolis, including the Indianapolis Museum of Art
and the Soldiers & Sailors Monument on Monument Circle, just a block away from the hotel.
The weather turned out to be beautiful, even though I’m sure we both were sweating.

The ceremony was officiated by my pastor growing up and was short & sweet.
Cocktail hour followed, then everyone headed up to the ballroom for the reception.
We ended the night dancing and drinking with our most favorite people in the world.

4th of July circa 2008

To celebrate our five year wedding anniversary tomorrow,
I thought it would be fun to take a look back, five years ago.

During the wedding planning process, we originally avoided 4th of July weekend since it was a holiday,
but we finally decided that having it that weekend was absolutely perfect.
Everyone had a three day weekend already and some turned it into a longer weekend.
We also thought it would be fun to have fireworks each year we celebrated.

We welcomed guests throughout the day on the 4th and got to catch up with so many people.
Our rehearsal was held at our venue mid afternoon, followed by our rehearsal dinner.
Some would say it was nontraditional, as we enjoyed the evening at
Victory Field, home of the Indianapolis Indians (Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates).
We chose Victory Field for a number of reasons.
If you know us at all, you know that we both love sports, especially baseball for Greg.
The Indianapolis Indians always host the 4th of July game against the Louisville Bats,
so we know first hand that it’s a great evening filled with tradition, plus a great view of the downtown fireworks.
The field was just a few blocks from our wedding venue and where all the guests were staying,
so no one had to mess with driving to or from the game, especially great for out-of-towners.
Most importantly, this is the very place that Greg and I met just two summers prior.
There is no doubt Victory Field will always hold a special place in our heart.

We hosted our guests on the Third Base Terrace, located on suite level.
Everyone enjoyed great seats for the game, yummy ballpark food, and the best view for downtown Indy.
If you know Indiana weather at all, you’d think that it would be hot and humid in July,
but to our surprise, it was very chilly… freezing I would say.
I distinctly remember people buying sweatshirts because we were not prepared for the cold.

There was a small window following the end of the game and before the start of the fireworks
where there were some on-field promotions. Four members of our bridal party got to participate
in dizzy bat on the field. Let me tell you, it is still funny to think about to this day.
Michael, Maggi, Joe, and Jeff definitely provided entertainment to a sold out crowd.

At dusk, the fireworks began, which was a great way to celebrate the 4th of July
and end a wonderful day with our closest friends and family.

Michael + Karolina

I’m not sure if you remember my engagement photo session with Michael & Karolina since it’s been so long,
but in honor of their wedding weekend, I thought I would finally share their photos!

We had their session in Winter Park right off Park Ave. and at the Winter Park Farmer’s Market.
I had such a fun time taking their pictures and I am so honored that they put their trust in me for this session.

Congratulations Michael & Karolina!

my weekend in photos

have no fear, we’re still here. we took a vacation day today to extend our weekend.

we had no ice at lunch on friday, but how could you be upset with a sign like this?

a couple rough days of teething & drooling meant lots of laundry by friday.
that’s a total of 14 outfits in six days.

greg went to a concert friday night, so i enjoyed some march madness & sewing.

saturday morning, i helped out sally {sally sarah designs} at a craft show.
how adorable is her table?

jessie + andrew got married!

we had a wonderful night away enjoying adult conversation & time together.

you can’t argue with drinking out of a mason jar.

the entire evening was absolutely beautiful and filled with love!
we had such a good time celebrating the happy couple
(who i failed to get a picture of because my phone died).

holly hoosier helped us cheer on the hoosiers to victory sunday!
not without a couple heart attacks in the process though.

we enjoyed our extra day off at the braves/mets spring training game at disney.

kenley loved the game & cheered every time something happened.

let’s go mets!

great entertainment.

we’ve been very happy to have meemaw here.

we had a fun weekend and are looking forward to a fun spring break week ahead!

this was my first time seeing brad. the show was amazing.
easily one of the top five concerts i’ve ever seen.
it had been way too long since i had seen a good, outdoor, country show.

after a small incident involving locked keys in a running car,
we made it to ashley & britton’s wedding.

enjoying our evening together

everything about the wedding and reception was perfect

kenley had a sleepover at kyler’s while we were at the wedding

she loved playing on kyler’s chair, which makes mama very happy for her birthday present!

found this at sam’s club today while running errands.
it’s about to go down…

we had quite an eventful weekend and it was great!
a country concert and a wedding in one weekend, can’t beat that.

how was your weekend?

my weekend in indiana

Kenley and I headed up to Indiana for a quick trip this past weekend.
45 hours, to be exact.
We had some fun, family functions we had been invited to,
but I just pulled the trigger last weekend and decided to just go.
This was after a very crazy week, which I will share with you at a later date.

We had SO much fun and saw SO many people during our short visit.
It was awesome to enjoy the first day of fall with the cool, crisp weather.

We celebrated Megan & baby GB on Saturday morning.
Meg didn’t know that Kenley & I were coming in, nor Misha, who came from Seattle!

Later that night, we celebrated Logan & Vanessa who got married in Alaska!
Fail, I didn’t even get a picture of the bride and groom.

Sunday, we had a play date with Katie & Ashton and spent time with the other side of the family.

I like to think that I’ve reached pro traveler status by flying solo with Kenley.
Even though I know moms do it probably all the time, I’m pretty impressed that we did so well.
Kenley was a rock star and flying after bedtime was an excellent idea.
Not to mention, I made it there and back with one carry-on suitcase.
That’s got to be some sort of record!

We had a great weekend in Indiana
and were so thankful to see so many wonderful people in such a short amount of time.
